Powerful research with a clear message.
“Children are fascinated by the natural world. It’s maintaining that through their childhood and schooling that’s essential, alongside urban greening. There’s policies starting to do that but we’ve got to think in transformational terms – not 30% but 1,000%.”

and outside of cities? for example, all the priority schemes in the Didcot LCWIP have a (very loosely) estimated cost of £100m... multiply that by every town in the county plus strategic links between them and we could more than spend the whole UK allocation just in Oxfordshire

I think Kevin is making a different point - whether the emissions reductions are sufficient to hit Paris targets, etc - which they are not. But if people are aware that some reductions have actually been achieved, more chance of them being on board to try achieve more extensive reductions.

Oxford temporary congestion charge for cars
We are asking for your views on six temporary congestion charge locations for cars in Oxford. The temporary congestion charge is being proposed to reduce traffic around Oxford during Network Rail’s ex...
Two thoughts:
1) A (de)congestion charge will be effective in reducing traffic and making buses faster + more reliable. The thought put into the exemptions (eg for care workers, blue badge holders) is positive to see.
2) I hope an online survey is not the main/only way people are being consulted.

we should probably be prouder of the UK's success in reducing its share emissions... even including offshore footprint it's a 36% reduction since 1990

An important but under-funded way to boost the amount of social housing is for councils to buy existing homes into their stock.
It pays off in rents, less benefit £ and huge wider gains, and it helped the Mayor of London achieve his housing targets. I call it Buy the Supply. 🧵

The ‘Inequality’s OK’ Fallacy
A common defence of inequality is that it does not matter so long as people are better off than they might otherwise be, or they have enough...
Some think inequality is fine if those with the least are getting a bit more than before,
But inequality in resources means inequality in power,
& any widening power gap is a threat to us: henry-tam.blogspot.com/2025/05/the-...
