If you're a government who gets offended when you're compared to fascists and dictators, then arresting journalists for just doing their jobs seems like a step in the WRONG direction...

Immigration: The Disconnect Between Perception and Policy - Behavioral Scientist Two-thirds of Americans believe the countryโ€™s current immigration policy needs at least major revisions. What that reform should look like varies, but not as much one might think.

Remembering Rachel Cooke | The Observer

Absolutely beautiful tribute to Rachel Cooke, who wrote like a dream.

How lovely to be remembered for "her extraordinary standards and work ethic and sense of fun."

By contrast, on the day of the US election results last year, a friend and I went for a very glum walk. We passed a favourite restaurant which had open doors and staff inside, but they were just setting up and not able to serve food for another hour. Still sold us a consoling glass of wine though.

I do realise this isn't the world's most pressing issue, but why does Ed Sheeran think it's a good idea to write a song that contains the phrase "your eyes exploding"?

I am finding this very disconcerting

This piece resonates even more after seeing that disgraceful display in the Oval Office.

Nothing describes Trump better than "changeable, highly emotional, susceptible to whatever he last heard and clearly instinctively pro-autocrat."

Thank you Ian for giving me a little hope.
