Oops, it was 1st grade. SEE IF YOU CAN TELL WHICH ONE SHE IS... lol

This made me think of her 2nd grade teacher telling us how she had been *too enthusiastic* at the music performance, as an example of her being a problem. She also told my kid that she read aloud with too much enunciation. Yeah, sorry, those are things to be cherished, not "corrected", beyatch.

It may take a while but at some point she will find her spot in the world where she’s appreciated. I can’t imagine why anyone would want her to suppress those parts or herself to be like everyone else.

If my brilliant daughter gets a low grade, that’s not a failure on her part. That’s a failure on her school in assessing her actual abilities, knowledge, and skills. I’m not going to punish her for that. Her creative potential and heart are so much more valuable than hitting deadlines.

When she gets excited about an assignment, she goes big on it. Spends way more time than necessary but what she creates is original, detailed, and outstanding. Is trying to change her what’s best? I have a hard time selling her on “do poorer work”. But then why should I be?

I’m studying creativity in individuals with ADHD right now, and it gave me a realization about my teen. Her grades never reflect her knowledge, time, or effort. She works really hard and puts her heart into everything. But she gets poor grades because she struggles with getting things done on time.
