February 16th is Nova Scotia Heritage Day. This year, we honour Senator Joseph Willie Comaeu - an Acadian educator, businessman, and politician from Digby County.

A graduate of Collège Sainte-Anne, he worked as a teacher and entrepreneur before entering provincial politics in 1907.

Registration for the NSNU’s upcoming Annual General Meeting is now open, closing on March 2nd.

One representative from each Local (typically a Table Officer) is responsible for registering all participants (delegates and observers) attending the AGM from their Local.

The CFNU works with provincial nurses’ unions to improve the work life of nurses and address issues that impact the health of all Canadians. Comprised almost entirely of working nurses, the NEB conducts face-to-face meetings twice a year, typically in Ottawa, ON.

Labour Relations Representatives Holiday Schedule The NSNU Office will be closed on December 24th, reopening on January 2nd.

Although the building will be closed to the public, staff may be onsite working through the holidays. Labour Relations Representatives will be available on a rotational, on-call schedule during this time. NSNU Members can find our LRR holiday schedule at nsnu.ca/LRRHolidays.

Today, NSNU President Janet Hazelton presented a donation to Mandi MacDonald, part of the Feed Nova Scotia Philanthropy Team.

Feed NS distributes approximately three million kilograms of donated food each year to more than 130 food banks and meal programs throughout Nova Scotia.

The NSNU Dartmouth General Hospital Local held a Winter Social yesterday, December 17, welcoming the more than 900 nurses working in that facility to stop by for hot apple cider, sweets and healthy snacks. NSNU president, Janet Hazelton was a guest at the popular event.
