This was SB99 from 2023. I spoke against this bill on 3 different occasions on the house floor, including the "blood on your hands" speech.
I am glad this bill has been permanently defeated. And that Montana's constitution continues to protect trans people from government overreach and animus.
If you try to beat conservatives only by debating them on policy, it frames the nature of the fight as a policy disagreement, hiding the real problem, which is thatβbehind the endless parade of bullshit they use to obscure this factβthey are cruel bullies w/strange hang-ups and violent intentions.

For a couple years, I have proudly served on the advisory board for the National Organization for Victim Advocacy -- the oldest org of its kind in the country. During my time, I've supported a game changing pilot program: the training and deployment of youth victim advocates to college campuses.
This lifesaving work was made possible through a grant from the Department of Justice. Last week, we were informed that the funding would be terminated immediately, with Pam Bondi's office writing that this support for survivors of assault and crisis βno longer effectuates agency priorities.β

24.03.2025 20:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A news article headline reads, "White House Plans to Pause $175 Million for Penn Over Transgender Policy." The subheadline states that the decision is part of a broader effort to push universities to end diversity programming and adopt stricter discipline. Below the text is a photograph of a historic building on the University of Pennsylvania's campus, with a statue in the foreground and leafless trees framing the image. The article is authored by Alan Blinder and Michael C. Bender, published on March 19, 2025.
A news article continues discussing the Trump administration's decision to suspend $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania due to its policies regarding transgender athletes. The article references a White House social media account announcing the move, citing Penn's support of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas as a justification. A response from Penn states that they have not received official notification and assert they are in compliance with all relevant regulations.

For most of the past nine years, the biggest division within the broader left coalition was between liberals and leftists.
At this point, I think that's no longer the case.
I now think the biggest division is between those who want to do something to fight fascism, and those too afraid to act.
I asked Schumer about this last night and his answer was basically that theyβre wrong.

14.03.2025 19:45 β π 242 π 20 π¬ 11 π 3Media Matters compiled a list of 418 popular online shows β podcasts, streams, and other long-form audio and video content regularly posted online β that were active during 2024, assessed ideological alignment, and found 320 online shows with an ideological bent (191 right-leaning and 129 left-leaning) that covered news and politics and/or hosted related guests. Nine of the 10 online shows from our study with the largest total following across platforms were right-leaning, accounting for at least 197 million total followers and subscribers. These are the online shows of: Joe Rogan: 39.9 million Ben Shapiro: 25 million Jordan Peterson: 23 million Russell Brand: 22.5 million Theo Von: 22.3 million Charlie Kirk: 18.6 million Nelk Boysβ Full Send Podcast: 16.7 million Candace Owens: 15 million Dr. Phil: 14.2 million
Across streaming platforms including YouTube, Rumble, Twitch, Kick, and Spotify, the left-leaning online shows had at least 55.9 million total followers and subscribers β a figure which is dwarfed by the right-leaning online shows with at least 255.5 million. This content is further amplified on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok β social media platforms where the programs or hosts post full streams, clips, and show links. Left-leaning online shows had at least 48 million followers across these platforms, while the right-leaning online shows had more than 225 million followers. Of a cumulative 584.6 million followers and subscribers across all eight platforms, Media Matters found that right-leaning online shows accounted for roughly 82%, or 480.6 million β almost five times more than left-leaning showsβ nearly 104 million.
Something that's been clear to me for some time is that a lot of progressive advocacy and politics has overindexed on finding just the right combination of words to say while ignoring the fact that no media ecosystem exists where people might actually hear you say them. New from @mmfa.bsky.social
