Miniature agateware vase.
These are so cute and it seems people who buy stuff from me love them a whole lot more than I even love making them.

Glazy link? Source? Ingredient list? Summoning ritual?
I need to know.
Throwing and trimming process for afore-posted big marble vase. I'm loving how it's coming out but already have ideas for the next one.
Also sorry for bad camera work and not including the top piece attachment (a class was starting).

17.02.2026 00:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Quick update on some of my agateware pieces. I especially love mug#2 (white/brown). I need to figure out exactly how I wedges that and replicate it.

15.02.2026 13:44 β π 314 π 28 π¬ 36 π 8Big (maybe 1.5 feet?) agateware vase is now trimmed. Only 4.5 lbs before it's even dry. I think I'm loving porcelain more than I ever liked stoneware. It's gonna look so good when it's fired.

A partially frozen river, with trees on both sides' banks. A bridge is visible in the distance.
The sun is setting over apartment buildings in the background of a frozen river.
Milwaukee River, just south of North Ave. Having grown up in a far less snowy place, I'll never stop enjoying winter, or the wonderful change in the scenery it brings.
15.02.2026 15:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wish it was more feasible to get these sort of swirls that you see on the bottom of this piece on to the main body. It looks so neat and stark with the black/white contrast.

A greenish blue curvy and large vase sits on a table. Next to it, atop 3 books stacked on each other is a smaller version of the same shape and color vase.
A blue and white large curvy vase sits next to 3 stacked books and a miniature blue and white curvy vase.
A large blue and white angled vase sits next to a miniature blue and white vase.
I love making big vases, and apparently people love buying tiny vases, so I did a sort of miniature version of some of the larger ones I've made once. They look cute next to each other if nothing else.

The plant keeper is my gf. I'm literally so thankful she loves plants because I also love them but I suck at taking care of them. I rock at making planters tho, so it's such a good fit.
14.02.2026 03:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A cutting of a silver inch rests in a miniature vases. These silver inch is purple and white, with 2 white stripes running along the leaves from root to tip. The vase is blue and white, with a band around the middle where the blue and white are mixed.
The silver inch cutting is not potted in soil in a planter. The planter has a leaf/stem texture applied, and a pastry crust rim.
Back towards the end of last year, we were given a silver inch cutting while leaving a market. I was in love with the purple (though the plant keeper wasn't initially) so we propagated it in a mini-vase and then put it in a textured pot I made.

Edgy anime protagonist: this world is imperfect, humanity is a disease
And the worst part is it probably would look fine if I hadn't glazed it. The clear must have hated this stoneware, dulled it a good amount, and also put a bunch of tiny sand-like spots on it. No idea why, buck this piece kinda sucks.
13.02.2026 22:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A yellow and red bottle is being thrown on a pottery wheel.
The same bottle is shown after a bisque firing, it is now a somewhat vibrant red and a dark black.
After the glaze firing, the bottle is now a fuller red and the black is lighter and more brown. The contrast between the two is low.
Ngl, each firing for this piece was a substantial step down. I'm kinda mad. The sunlight is even carrying it in the last picture, it looks less contrast-y in person.

13.02.2026 19:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A sword rests on the floor, propped up by a chair. In the background is a tall fiddle leaf fig plant, ith large flat green leaves.
On top of pottery, I've also made some blacksmithing projects. This sword is my greatest feat in that category to date. And it's damascus steel (1084 & 15N20). Not super complex, but it's a sword, and it's mine, and I made it, and nobody can take that from me

A marbled mug rests on a table between two plants. The mug is black and white with swirls and patterns similar to marble.
Another side of the mug is shown with other interesting patterns. The white handle can be seen in a side profile.
My first finished agateware mug! It's already been conscripted by my gf, but I have others for future markets.
Unfortunately I also had some busts in the same batch, likely due to a compatibility issue with one porcelain I used.

13.02.2026 03:29 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A ceramic vase is being thrown on a pottery wheel. The bottom 2/3rds is marbled with black and white portions, and there is a section of the vase that is just white on top. It is somewhat curvy, widening from the foot to it's belly, narrowing to it's neck and opening to a rim the same size as the foot.
A big agateware pot is underway. This also literally isn't even it's final form, but a class was starting and I had to stop recording.

The electricity is coming often from fuel burning plants, but also renewable. Those fuel burning plants can also take advantage of size and staying in place to optimize the output. It's definitely out of date, but I believe EVs could be said to get ~100 miles per gallon.
12.02.2026 15:56 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Throwback to the time I hiked a ceramic jar I made up a mountain in winter for the asesthetic and the shot (at the end). You can see the rocky mountains in the background, including Long's peak/nenΓisΓ³toyΓ³ΓΊ'u, which is on the back of the Colorado state quarter.

And yes, I was spraying water on this dry piece frequently during this, hence a bunch of trimmings sticking to me.

Back from when I made a very large planter. This was the largest single piece I've ever made in terms of clay weight. Flipping it when trimming was a very intense experience.

That makes sense. I forget the exact stain, but it was basically this difference times maybe 10 times. Our kiln is also firing to maybe cone 7.5, which probably contributed.
08.02.2026 21:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've got a few other stained porcelain, and the blues look good. However, the one time I've had a red/pink one, it essentially all burned out in the kiln, not sure why. I may need to just add more stain instead of roughly 8% for that.
