I used to run a camera club - we'd have competitons and critique the submissions. Neuroscience aside- this picture would have rated highly. Lighting, exposure, use of texture, use of shapes, rule of thirds - it's all there. Also, your caligraphy is exquisite

I expect you get this a lot too. Eating a restaurant and about 15 minutes into your meal someone comes over and asks if everything is alright with your food. If it wasn't, you would have heard about it by now!

Unhappy Birthday to Me    It’s important to share, or so I’ve been taught,  to show kindness to others, to be a good sport.  But all of those teachings have taken a bump –  for I share my birthday with Donald Trump.    For years I knew not of this dark, dreadful fate,  and with ignorant bliss I honoured the date –  but then it got hijacked, sullied, gazumped  by a self-serving bigot, a foul gibberlump.     With him, I would share an infectious disease,  a mouldy bread roll, an infestation of fleas,  a romantic weekend at a toxic waste dump – but please, not my birthday, Mr. Tangerine Chump.    Alternative dates he’s welcome to try –   12th Febtember, 33rd July. But 14th June? In a lake, take a jump and find a new date, you deranged sewage pump.  Brian Bilston

Escape into Nature   There are times when it all gets too much and I have to switch off my phone and the radio and my brain, and escape outside.   I say good afternoon to next door’s dog. Have you seen the latest about the government, he barks, you couldn’t make it up. I offer a weak smile and make my excuses before walking on past the pub, whose sign creaks in protest against the steep rise in the cost of living.   From the tall branches of a tree, a seminar is in progress: a squirrel sets out his ideas about how to alleviate the refugee crisis, while a chaffinch flaps his wings angrily. It all gets too much for one leaf, who hurls itself down, remembering Trump.   I feel the eyes of a murderous-looking crow upon me, annoyed no doubt about global warming, so make my way down to the river where – for a few precious, stolen moments – I close my eyes and listen to the water as it laps gently against the bank,   until I hear the slap of wet feet approaching.
