A picture a friend of mine posted in a Discord. Its several Harry Potter books on Audible for an ad. Graffiti is sprawled over the books and it reads in all caps: “FIND A BETTER BOOK”

A male female, gender symbol, which I’m going to assume represents trans folks is in the top right corner, but there’s an a for anarchy inside of the circle in the symbol

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties review: How not to do a remake | VGC Sega delivers a disappointing remake built on disdain, not reverence, looking to fix a game that wasn’t broken…

yakuza kiwami 3 is an insult to the game rgg has purported to remake, its players, the studio's previous quality output and, bewilderingly, women. oh, and the casting of an admitted sex pest. i'm somewhere between dejection and fury.

my review for vgc:

truly feels like the BDS Xbox movement in games press circles specifically has experienced little to no motion in the past 10 months.

Really disappointing and discouraging. Idk why everyone shared that YouTube video if business as usual reemerges the second it needs to.

No Games For Genocide The games industry is complicit in genocide. It’s time to divest.

Anyway, Microsoft's gaming products are subject to a boycott from the BDS movement, due to Microsoft's ongoing support for the IDF. Bethesda is owned by Microsoft.

"why do you have to post and repost messages about the BDS boycott every time there's a new game announcement or set of trailers"

because there's this weird phenomenon of active forgetting that Microsoft is a tech partner of one of the most heinous crimes against humanity happening on earth today

Hey, I know Blizzard confused everyone yesterday, but just as a reminder -- Bethesda is also a Microsoft studio, and is still part of the BDS boycott.

I can and I do appreciate it as a function of news coverage, and see value in critics providing perspective. But some of the nuance critics are aware of when previewing is not privy to audiences. To audiences it’s not a carefully curated marketing presentation, it’s early access.

In 2022 I started tracking changes in how news outlets were describing trans people, and set up a bot to record every article pushed to the Google News index based on a handful of search phrases, including “biological sex” in both the US and UK. The amount in 2023 alone was absolutely staggering.

In light of today’s Xbox showcase: a reminder that the BDS boycott against Xbox and Microsoft products is still ongoing.

If you say you oppose Israel’s genocide of Palestinians, or oppose ICE here in the US, Microsoft is not a neutral company in either of these stories.

I've got nothing to say about anything in the Xbox developer showcase because I am boycotting Xbox and Xbox Game Studios until, at base, Microsoft divests from its contracts with the Israeli government.
