So far, they have returned the citizens they detain, but if this gets worse, I'm worried there will be no backbone to our claims of sanctuary. And we know ICE doesn't care if someone is actually from here or not. This is where all the queer cousins move to get away from Catholic/Mormon/Evangelical hate back home. So if you're gay or trans, it's very nice to have community. As a very obvious queer person myself, it's been lovely to be in a room of other Latinos and not have to try and hide who I am out of fear. Overall, I do love it here.
