Yes. Yes I did.

They talked their way out of most of the fights, which was fun, but then a couple of them got bored and turned full murderhobo, which was also fun. I think five goblins survived, but not the boss.

Of course, that's at 1st level. They all get more complicated at higher levels. I know that. But for kids who are just starting on their TTRPG journey, it's a good intro for sure.

For the last few years I've mostly played Pathfinder, so re-learning D&D (5e but 2014 because those are the books we all have) has been interesting. As someone who grew up with fucking THAC0, I never thought I'd say "I like how uncomplicated D&D is!" but here we are!

Spent most of yesterday playing D&D with Dean and his friends (and one other mom) - which was amazing and super fun and it seems 35 years of playing table-top RPGs has, in fact, well-prepared me for the other side of the screen.

I have zero faith that they won't Leroy Jenkins literally everything they meet. But one of their moms is also coming over to play, so maybe she can be the voice of reason!

I'm trying not to do to them what my first DM did to me when I started playing. I remember one day where I rolled up at least four characters. The final one, which (ironically) survived to about 6th or 7th level was an elven druid named Temporaryl.

Thank you! I have already downloaded a few freebies (they're coming over today to play Grammy's Country Apple Pie so I can get a feel for how they play together). I suspect that will be right up their alley!
