My Zumba instructor plays Megan, Glorilla, Nelly and Monifa. She taught me how to do a dance called the Cookout and she was so tickled at the gasp I gusped when she busted out Freekaleek the other day. Not to be dramatic, but I would die for her and the way her class makes me feel.

Oh my gosh, exactly this. I used to run a boarding facility and it was astonishing how ignorantly so many people entered into horse ownership.

I currently have my 21-year-old former world champion and my mom’s 28-year-old former trail horse of 15+ years retired with me for what’s left of their lives.

Personally, every horse I sell goes with instructions to call me if the buyer ever gets to a point of considering sending the horse to a “kill pen” and I will absolutely take it back and evaluate whether it can comfortably live longer or needs humane euthanasia. But that’s certainly not the norm.

Anyway I’ll probably end up deleting this but it’s what’s on my mind today.

And there are way too many people who “dump” old/sick/crippled/insane horses rather than pay to euthanize them (and have to dispose of the bodies.) I don’t see a way to fix that, so it still seems kinder to have an outlet where their end will be quick and relatively painless. But that’s just me.

It was subject to animal cruelty guidelines. They were put down by captive bolt, which is considered as “kind” a way to kill an animal as any, outside of humane euthanasia.

Not gonna quote-post the thing, because I’m sure I’ll get attacked, but the vast majority of the equine community is pro-HUMANE horse slaughter. There’s a need for it, and right now they’re being trucked to Mexico, where the slaughter process is HORRENDOUS. When it was legal in the US…

Yes! I love Second Hand Rose and I’m dying to get over to Full Circle in Homewood. I miss Collage and Revolution a lot. Clotheshorse is mostly new cheap-feeling boutique stuff lately, plus they’re super Trumpy, so, ick.

Hard same. I live near a super bougie area of Birmingham that has great consignment stores full of designer stuff that’s barely, if ever, worn and I gratefully accept their deeply discounted castoffs 🙏🏻
