Absolutely agree. So much recruitment focussed on people who favour the right hand side has left us really unbalanced

We're going to be out of Europe for a decade at this rate Charlotte

We're not developing the politicians we used to - there's no pipeline. I know it's not popular but maybe we need to bring a Prime Minister in from Europe to steady the ship, whilst investing in grassroots

Reasonable to ask questions about the cabinet here too - they're just not playing for him. They get paid a lot of money and the electorate are entitled to expect more.

Look, we've already changed the Prime Minister several times and results haven't improved. You've got to look at the board - they just haven't invested.

This week can we please commit to at least having 2-3 days of gloating before being hectored by the "the next one will be even worse" brigade. We know.

Bit worried about this constant changing of Prime Ministers thing. What if we run out of talent and end up with a shit one?

Nine years to the day since Graham Linehan foresaw his own fate.

Why have 30 people followed me today. Is this another Twitter exodus or did I do something

12.01.2026 19:07 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah I mean this is part of it right - people often say that it's because retail premises are too expensive etc but that's also the market

12.01.2026 14:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Genuinely these people have absolutely no idea how the economic system they live in and probably support is supposed to work. So much "*they* took our high street shops away!" Who did? Who took them? The invisible hand of the market, that's who.

There is extremely fertile ground for communism in the local town Facebook groups of Britain. The people in these groups all seem to want a planned economy, and seem to hanker for a grand authority which dictates which shops open in any given town, irrespective of business case.

Jonathan Ross is one of those names, like Benito Mussolini or Leopold II of Belgium, where all of the people named it are the worst sort of cunt

Inquiry into failure to spot dissident’s offensive tweets
Aubrey Allegretti - Chief Political Correspondent

Alaa Abd el-Fattah celebrates with his family in Cairo after he was freed from jail
An internal inquiry has been launched by the Foreign Office into the β€œunacceptable failure” of officials to spot β€œabhorrent” social media posts from Alaa Abd el-Fattah.

Yvette Cooper, the foreign secretary, admitted β€œdeep distress” had been caused to Jewish groups by government statements welcoming the political activist’s arrival in the UK.

These included a Boxing Day tweet from Sir Keir Starmer saying he was β€œdelighted” el-Fattah had been allowed to travel to Britain, which set off a backlash after a history of social media posts calling for Zionist civilians to be killed emerged.

Downing Street stressed on Monday that Starmer had been unaware of the comments, including calls for Downing Street to be burnt down, made between 2010 and 2012.

Cooper said that present Labour and former Tory ministers β€œwere never briefed on these tweets” and civil servants in charge of the case β€œwere also unaware”.

β€œI take this extremely seriously both to ensure we have accurate information and because of the deep distress this has understandably caused,” she wrote in a letter to the foreign affairs committee on Monday night. β€œIt is clear that this has been an unacceptable failure and that long standing procedures and due diligence arrangements have been completely inadequate for this situation.”

The unexpected emergence of el-Fattah’s tweets risked contributing to the distress felt by Jewish people given β€œrising antisemitism, and recent horrific attacks”, Cooper added.

One week they're crying about people getting visits from the police because of tweets, the next week they're calling for inquiries into tweets.

realise how bad our legal position and the behaviour of this govt really is. I don't even think it's a reaction to Reform because they're not really any different on trans folk - in fact their prisons spokesperson said they would put some trans women in women's prisons!

Yeah you're not wrong - basically their direction of travel is faster and more dangerous, and the federal govts intent is very clear. Some states are standing up for trans people and that's the only saving grace. I would rather be here than there at the moment, but I do think it's important people..
