As with seemingly literally every problem the human race has faced in history, the cause is a lack of quality leadership

You can then use this to generate constant media stories. The way to deal with this is for people in power to have the confidence to say something is bollocks and not to constantly both sides 'debates' which are concocted

And as we learned from that, the first step in all of these things is framing something with an obvious and well studied correct answer as a debate knowing that doing so means that ~20% of people will choose the wrong answer just out of contrarianism, and immediately you've created a split
