Labour Peer Who Fled The Nazis Condemns His Party's Immigration Crackdown Lord Dubs said he was "lost for words".

Alf Dubs is a 92 year old man who spent his life fighting for refugees, and in particular for refugee children. He fought the Tories tooth and nail during their last three terms, only to see Labour adopt far-right policies on immigration.

Nature you can’t see. Private land, trespassing in an ancient wood and the right to roam. I took these photos to bring your attention to some marvellous things in nature, in Sussex, that are hidden from the public. I will not name the Sussex wood I trespassed in to take these photos. If…

A post on private land ownership and access to nature. Some of the best nature in Sussex is in SSSIs were access is not permitted by owners, often related to making money out of pheasant shooting. @guyshrubsole.bsky.social excellent on this! See: whoownsengland.org @righttoroam.bsky.social

A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Shabana Mahmood casually saying they're gonna take migrant's jewellery off them has got me thinking about that scene in Schindler's List where the Jewish family wrap family heirlooms in bread and swallow them.

What the fuck are we?

Labour's Stella Creasy asks Shabana Mahmood if she will "incarcerate children with their families as part of enforced return, or whether she intends to separate children from their mums and dads"?

Mahmood says she won't separate children, but doesn't say if they will be incarcerated

Anglican bishop shaken β€˜to the core’ by home secretary’s asylum seeker comments Bishop of Edmonton says people coming to UK are being β€˜scapegoated’ for years of policy failures

Remembering that hideous Daily Mail story about Jews hiding their gold and jewellery when arriving as refugees. Of course they did if they had any. Would Daily Mail journalists and editors do any differently if they were in a similar plight? Such a failure of emphethetic imagination and compassion.

It would be one thing having a "debate" on immigration if people meant they wanted a "debate" based on facts. But what most people seem to mean when they say they want a debate is that is they want us to pretend a bunch of entirely made up bullshit is true.

Right, so because you have experienced quotas you want people who are fleeing violence to experience them too. Okay ...

Think for one second how many children are born to refugees during a 20 year period. British kids born, gone to nursery, primary, secondary, college university, working, maybe multiple jobs, paying taxes, getting married, making friends, setting down roots.

Despicable and inhumane.

You never experienced quotas. Plus, if you're an immigrant, don't project your experience on asylum seekers. You weren't one and your claim about back doors is simply not true. This you would know if you did even the minimum of research into the asylum application process.

What is truly pathetic about Labour is that this is all they have got. They have failed so spectacularly already, despite a whacking great majority, to even attempt to govern positively that all they have is punching down on marginalised groups and saying "oh but Reform will be worse".

Let communities own rivers, woods & moors!

Excellent to see @simonforstroud.bsky.social has tabled amendments 107 & 108 to the Devolution Bill to strengthen Community Right to Buy laws in this way.

We need more Labour MPs to support this - email yours:

I think the Gov is testing the water for which changes might be more palatable than others.

So it is its own fault that it has created an inevitable speculative commentary.

Housing secretary tells Labour MPs to vote down planning bill amendment Amendment restricts protection for animals to allow faster house building
