There are a bunch of other systems I do need to build out (saving/loading, checkpoints, respawning, dialogue, etc) but I'm pretty happy with how far I got and what I've built so far.

I'm at a point right now where I think I can make something small for the end of the year (at the very least I am aiming to have something to show for PitchYaGame in Nov!). Given that a lot of the base systems are functional now, I can turn towards broader design decisions.

I wasn't always consistent with dev work due to my mental health and general overload from my day job, but having it as part of my sword contract really did help reignite the spark I have for game dev.

It helps that I have at least like five people who want to play ScalePact now haha

Here's what I did in trying to do the other things:
- Tried to convert MinionsArts shaders to Godot
-- They rely on some funcs that don't exist in Godot so a lot of trial/error
- Root motion
-- The Malbers rigs just don't work with RM in Godot sadly

- Moving platforms
-- This was blocked by the interaction system and jumping
- Gliding
-- This was blocked by jumping, and will be made into an ability like the base dash
- More involved animations
-- Damn you root motion!!!

#indiedev #godot So the sword contract I've been doing game dev stuff for ends tomorrow, but I've made a massive amount of progress for ScalePact in the last three and a half months. I rebuilt just about everything from the ground up and made it work in Godot.

Here's a little post mortem:

We use the super long background music vids for dnd and the amount of ads we've seen in the last like two months has gone up EXPONENTIALLY it sucks ass
