Everyone who says “It’s great at writing emails”, I wonder how they would feel if their recipients posted about how awesome it is to not have to read emails any more, with ai summarizing everything? Like what’s their endgame here, no one doing anything anymore cause they don’t value what they do?

The completely random spacing between the individual letters always kills me. The silver lining is that these types so readily identify themselves, like they’re proud of it or something.

My company has these and when they were first installed they didn’t change the default password and someone went around making them display various Grandpa Abe quotes while dispensing

what exactly has gotten better for the average person in the past 20 years with all the innovation such as AI, exactly? what's the social use case here

Yeah I wasn’t arguing, just wanted to bring that up as a point for people who may not have worked with interns before, since I’ve heard others say the same re: AI

The thing with interns is that you can mentor and teach them and even if they don’t end up working with you after they graduate, at least you did your part in shaping the next generation of folks within your industry.

It’s trite to say now but I miss having lots of little gadgets. Kids today aren’t having as much fun as I did in like 2001 listening to the Austin powers version of “just the two of us” on a burned mini CD in a shitty skipping player with those crappy rigid U shaped earphones

Sam, this is Bank Spendman. You can use your credit card at Burger King to get that Whopper you're craving.

If they’re using sticky sessions based on cookies or something else that would change between your normal browsing context and incognito mode, your requests could’ve been continuously routed to a poorly-performing server. I don’t work there or anything but it’s certainly possible. Also fuck comcast

I used to love computers. Computers reify math/logic into reality. Silicon Valley exists to chase money but at least it offered a living working on math/logic. Now not even that. Hard logic is old-fashioned. Silicon Valley is for vibe coding with $$$s in your eyes and little else.
