Oh, I believe you and don't blame you at whatsoever; I wasn't like 'fuck Americans, period'; I know tons of great ones, lovely people, who feel the same way. Some have even apologised to *me* for something they didn't do, for the country screwing over everywhere else in addition to itself.

I think that's probably the case for a lot of countries and cultures right now, essentially seeing America as the enemy (very much including the Good Americans™). This isn't some tirade, though I am tired.

Just a thought that's been bonking around my head for a few days. I'd never be some flag-waving hoo-rah jingoist, ever, but there's Somethin' Goin' On. I don't agree with all of it, but the anti-American sentiment is at an all-time high around here. Generally I think we just wanna be pals again.

I'd never seen myself as patriotic, and still don't, but I've had this thought that there's almost a little bit of forced patriotism going on, vs. the U.S. in particular. I think we as canucks are kind of nailing down our little culture a bit harder these days, almost as psychological self-defence?
