Sharing from a long-time organizing comrade. Their friend is housing insecure and trying to make it back to NYC within the next month for stable housing. Please support if you can!

And yes I am going to try to get a doctor's note for it at some point. There's just so much medical stuff on my to do list and no way to do it all at once. (Which btw I have an article coming out tomorrow that's partly about this! Accidental plug lol)

08.12.2025 19:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I desperately want the shingles vax even though I'm "too young." Had chicken pox at 14 (unvaccinated--it was so rare at the time that the doctor called all their staff over to see what it looked like). Got a staph infection because of the open wounds. Staph infection gave me permanent nerve damage.

With the protocol for the LDN trial now available for public comment. I wanted to hear from parents and researchers about their thoughts on the protocol. DM me to get in touch.

The white & classist oppression of many "COVID-cautious" people also helped push a mask bloc cofounder into houselessness. It's been almost a year & things haven't improved.
They could use financial support ($ app: $PoetJaleane) if you're willing to share.

07.12.2025 01:36 β π 2561 π 687 π¬ 79 π 13I've also testified at a bunch of City Council hearings and I really have no idea how that's been received. The hearings are long (sometimes more than 6 hours!) and by the time they get to public testimony, the decision makers have left a lot of the time.
06.12.2025 23:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In my experience, looking beyond long covid, social services are just not actually designed to care what happens to anybody. They're designed to refer you onward so that you can be someone else's problem. So these administrators are not very interested in hearing about structural problems.
06.12.2025 23:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sorry, had to think about this because I don't even know besides "aaaaa, frustration" lol. I'm mostly interacting with social services and Medicaid administrators, who just don't listen well in general, *and* fundamentally don't care about disability or long covid.
06.12.2025 23:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For context Chalder was one of the primary investigators on the infamous PACE graded exercise therapy trial.
She spent her career focusing on psychosocial factors with #MECFS and believes you can treat it with CBT.
She now has a study on #LongCovid showing up on Visible.

06.12.2025 18:44 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We need actual monetary solutions (cash, housing vouchers), not a system that willfully looks the other way and artificially deflates its statistics by only counting people who are in shelters.

I have felt like vomiting every day for over a month, lost so much weight trapped in the yt racist, physical violence of Karen Traite & Joe Levy, whose initial offer to stay I declined.
But their abuse violence shame is not mine to hold.
EsmΓ©, I am sorry I couldnβt get you out of there sooner.
As a housing organizer, I'm also frustrated at how often the idea of "moving in with friends" (or strangers) is put forward as some sort of alternative to needing or entering a shelter. I did this in 2020 and just ended up homeless again. @sndesireecha.bsky.social did it and was subjected to DV.
06.12.2025 16:34 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe I'm riffing too far off topic here, but I believe it's all connected. The absolute lack of concern from the covid cautious community when it comes to homelessness will haunt me forever.
And "rescue" is not concern, by the way. Rescue too often becomes abuse.
These are the people who are more morally affronted that a hospital makes you take your mask down at security than that the same hospital is starving someone or locking them up in psych. They care about nosocomial covid but not about nosocomial sepsis, which can kill people with long covid.
06.12.2025 16:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They look at covid safety as a thing you can buy, or lobby institutions for. And they want it so that they can protect themselves and their allies from becoming like us.
They're the same people who think if you have rights under the ADA, you just have to ask for them with the right tone of voice.
I believe @sndesireecha.bsky.social is spot-on in her critique of the covid-cautious community here. A huge percentage of these people (many of whom are white, and all of whom I presume are housed) are really only interested in masking etc. as a way to protect themselves and their nuclear families.
06.12.2025 15:59 β π 5 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0Please read this full thread, donate to DΓ©sirΓ©e's GFM if you can, and show up for your homeless neighbors.
This is another blatant instance of a disabled, covid-cautious POC being offered housing by white people and then violently abused and made homeless again. It has to stop.

Malone is now talking about the role of undocumented migrants in spreading measles.
There is no evidence of this. I am disgusted. The measles outbreak is American-grown due to declining vaccination coverage in response to disinformation.
Not this shit again
