ProPE expands the prime editing window and enhances gene editing efficiency where prime editing is inefficient - Nature Catalysis Prime editing is a CRISPR methodology whose efficiency declines with distance from the target sequence. Here the authors demonstrate prime editing with prolonged editing window, proPE, which extends the editing distance, enabling the use of prime editing for therapeutic interventions.

Couldn’t be prouder of my big sister! Her paper on proPE β€” a Prime Editing system with prolonged editing window β€” just came out in Nature Catalysis! By using two RNAs instead of one, proPE expands prime editing to previously unreachable, disease-linked SNPs.

Coupling of cell shape, matrix and tissue dynamics ensures embryonic patterning robustness - Nature Cell Biology Moghe et al. show that mouse embryonic primitive endoderm cells migrate towards the inner cell mass-cavity interface, depositing an extracellular matrix gradient that may guide migration. Primitive en...

Delighted to share that my PhD work from the Hiiragi Lab is now published in Nature Cell Biology! We uncover the cellular mechanisms underlying pattern formation and how patterning robustness can be ensured during embryo development. Check out the full story: nature.com/articles/s41556-025-01618-9

Single-cell electroporation is performed via patch pipette and under 2-photon visual guidance in vivo. A short voltage pulse train is applied through the pipette to deliver RNA molecules into a targeted cell. The video below shows this process in cortical neurons expressing GCaMP6s.

Megabase-scale human genome rearrangement with programmable bridge recombinases Bridge recombinases are naturally occurring RNA-guided DNA recombinases that we previously demonstrated can programmably insert, excise, and invert DNA in vitro and in Escherichia coli. In this study,...

Another bold colour added to the genome editing palette. Can’t wait to see how bridge recombinases reshape what’s possible in genome engineering.

Joint visual-vestibular computation of head direction and reflexive eye movement Several cognitive maps have been identified, but what sensory signals drive them and how these are combined are not well understood. One such map, the head-direction representation, is believed to be ...

How do different sensory signals combine in the computation of cognitive maps? I’m thrilled to share our new preprint, in which we investigate this question in the context of the head-direction system:
