Similar to Doctor Who in the mid-80s. Cancelled and revived very quickly, but all stories they had in the works dropped, and even with only half as many scripts to write they were in a real bind (though there were some extraordinary circumstances too in that instance)
19.10.2025 15:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm reminded of Blakeβs 7, which functionally ended after three series but was unexpectedly revived for a fourth. Production had to start from scratch, including contract negotiations with actors, and even with an 18 month gap they were really pushed for time with some of the first scripts.
19.10.2025 15:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It is slightly mad how big it was looking back. Like, my sister didnβt ever dress up as a Disney princess but she did have a Thunderbirds uniform
19.09.2025 10:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Clint Eastwood is older than Charles Lindbergh Jr
09.09.2025 18:17 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Headline saying Nadine Dorries has βdefectedβ to Reform
Itβs not a defection if theyβre not an MP!!!
04.09.2025 18:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Thursday Murder Club must be the most expensive episode of Midsomer Murders ever made (while also being quite a bit worse than your average Midsomer)
31.08.2025 19:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Theyβre appalling bad for finding everything other than franchise/childrenβs stuff. Wonder if this is because in the US a lot of this ends up on Hulu instead of Disney+, so itβs less of a priority to separate them
22.08.2025 17:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0*56 hours. Bad maths
19.08.2025 22:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lowkey the most interesting bit of Harry Potter world-building is that Major is Prime Minister for most of the buildup of the wizard war and knows about it, but Tony Blair is PM when it ends. Like, do they ever talk about it afterwards? They better address this somewhere in the showβs 72 hr runtime
19.08.2025 22:27 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Itβs like each episode was expecting the other to do the heavy lifting, and both lack spectacle as a result. I suspect that RTD expected Gatwa to make more of an impression in The Giggle, but he sort of gets lost against Tennant and NPH.
05.05.2025 12:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve generally liked RTD2, but Church/Space Babies to open wereβ¦ odd choices. Even beyond the superficial off-putting aspects (singing goblins, talking babies) neither episode is very well put-together, and I find it staggering that neither have a big βfuck yeah, hereβs the new Doctorβ moment.
05.05.2025 12:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I sometimes wonder if 121 seats in July was actually quite a lot, all things considered
02.05.2025 14:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Increasingly glad that David Cameron was able to call a referendum and put Farageβs electoral threat to bed, right? Right??
02.05.2025 14:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As well as cherry-picking, it sometimes feels like the argument boils down to βthe Doctor is a force for good, and *my* politics are good, so the Doctor and by extension the show must agree with my politicsβ
29.04.2025 16:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No, streaming service, I do not actually want to watch the last thirty seconds of the episode I watched previously

21.12.2024 22:24 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I only really fell in love with it when marathoning all of Classic Who. Whereas my thoughts about other eras didnβt really change much between dipping in at random points and watching everything in order.
20.12.2024 19:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think the Hartnell era is the only classic one where you really gain something from watching it all in order.
20.12.2024 19:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I find βis Die Hard a Christmas movieβ discourse so boring. We should be having more βis On Her Majestyβs Secret Service a Christmas movieβ discourse
10.12.2024 21:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt know about anybody else, but I always feel like Netflix shows set in the UK have this slightly uncanny valley feel to them? I know it was a deliberate creative decision in Sex Education, but it even extends to other stuff

28.11.2024 15:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In fairness, Iβm not entirely convinced that the Opposition has cottoned onto this yet
27.11.2024 14:34 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The election coverage was very guilty of this. βSorry for bothering you with all this nerd stuff, like actual resultsβ told to people staying up five hours after the exit poll
14.11.2024 19:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think the βbrain doesnβt stop developing until 25β myth hasnβt helped either, lending it some false sense of legitimacy
