“There’s many things I dislike about Britain. Then there’s all these other things – the hobbies, the fairs, the agricultural shows, the beaches, Radio 4, a cup of tea – those I love." > Very sad news. www.irishtimes.com/world/uk/202...

Richard Clinton, Chief Executive of Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust, said: “Without the AHF’s blend of grant and loan funding, we would have faced increased costs and delays in realising the vital benefits this project will bring to the community. Beyond the funding, they have encouraged us and offered advice and support, which has been critical in making this project a reality.”

It's a source of funding quite a few projects we have been involved in have utilised. PiP very welcome but very targeted, and places like Cornwall or others outside the PiP areas rightly concerned about what might follow on.

'...for all its flaws, it (UKSPF) was predominantly revenue funding and this was a strength. It could be (and often has been) spent on people-based projects...' > a big, at risk / missing part of the funding mix in many places and projects at the moment...

New modular homes in Cambridge open to support people who have been homeless
The modular homes provide a fixed address and safe home for people who have previously been sleeping rough
Recently met the CEO of New Meaning Foundation in Cambridge, which trains NEETs & young people in construction skills. Part of what they produce are modular homes for the homeless - amazing work. Lots of similar orgs across country that could do much more. www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambrid...

In the plethora of pointless stats now offered by BBC, it also looks like Spurs won the walking battle. #ArsTot

Attention is on NEETs today, but the problem is much worse.
NEETs include stay-at-home parents & jobseekers.
Strip those out to focus on people not working, not seeking work, not in education & not parenting: this group of economically & socially dislocated young adults has *doubled* in a decade.

Then caught the end of @hotchipofficial.bsky.social at @roughtrade1976.bsky.social discussing the futuristic sounds of the 80s, 90s + 2000s that influenced their output. Much of which still sounds like the future to me!

Went to two talks last night where 'the future' was a big theme. Excellent @powertochange.org.uk event @britishacademy.bsky.social with @anooshc.bsky.social, @rachelcoldicutt.bsky.social & @hetanshah.bsky.social. Thought calls for more ambitious plans for community biz, tech, housing etc were 🎯.
