15.02.2026 10:49 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Beautiful conditions today for a trail run. Modified an old favourite to get in a sweet 1000m elevation. #running #runsky #trailrunning
14.02.2026 15:12 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Homemade challenge last week - the Mellor Moor Dozen - 12 ascents of the nearest hill from different angles. Always good to do something local without petrol costs or entry fees. 49km and 2200m ascent. #runsky #running #trailrunning
09.02.2026 18:40 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Stunning conditions on Kinder Scout today for the early stages of the southern #Spine races. Lots of smiles from the runners and other folk enjoying the stonking conditions. Gonna get warmer and wetter from early morning. #running #runchat
10.01.2026 17:04 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Moon shots - from that long weekend run, photo is at Chew Reservoir, and from Lantern Pike last night on a snowy social run. Incredible conditions! Always so much better off road when the snow arrives. #runchat #running
06.01.2026 06:14 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cool. I respect how, on their website, they use photos to make it look as grim as possible! I'll add it to my list, although may have to be next year.
04.01.2026 09:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No, never done that one, heard good things about it though! Have you?
04.01.2026 09:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First ultra challenge of the year complete - the Saddleworth 10 Trigs - 59km and 2,000m ascent. Great to do it when the bogs are frozen! Photo is Alphin Pike, the last one, just above Greenfield. #running #runchat #trailrunning
04.01.2026 08:47 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Long run Friday - yesterday's trip along the Saddleworth side of the Peak District and over to Marsden. 39km and 1500m elevation. Here's Wimberry Rocks from the boulders by the stream. #runsky #runchat #running
21.12.2025 18:48 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Took me a while but I now only moderately dislike mine. They feel clumsy and get in the way. But they are great as the cumulative elevation racks up.
13.12.2025 22:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lantern Pike, looking towards Kinder Scout, as the drizzle stopped and the cloud layers began to part. 4th consecutive week of 3000m+ ascent, as long as I do something over the weekend! #runsky #running #trailrunning
12.12.2025 16:56 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fording the River Caldew, on a reccy of Bob Graham Round leg 1. A bit deep! But at least it washed away the mud. First full reccy weekend for our squad attempting next May. #runsky #running #fellrunning #ultra
12.12.2025 07:16 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A long run around Ullswater including some of the lower fells on Saturday - mostly damp and cloudy but brief rays of sunshine near Martindale church. Day 1 of 3 long back to back training for Bob Graham Round in May #runsky #running #trailrunning
09.12.2025 19:39 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Marathon Monday! Day off so hit the trails after some Christmas shopping. If you set off into the hills at 2pm, it's gonna go dark... Pics are from Kinder looking towards Manchester at dusk, and New Mills Tors. #runsky #trailrunning #running #ultra
24.11.2025 20:16 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lakes run this Friday - this is Kidsty Pike looking at High Street. Generally great conditions, just a few small drifts. Felt warmer in this spot on on the Northern Traverse back in April! #runsky #running #fellrunning
23.11.2025 18:53 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yup! Was wearing fairly battered trail shoes as we finished with 6km of road. Wore good grippy fell shoes the next day which was niiice.
10.11.2025 22:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That "my shoes aren't grippy enough but there's a camera so look happy" look. Descending Fell Head in the Howgills. #running #trailrunning #fellrunning
10.11.2025 15:48 β π 17 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Lovely run through the Yorkshire Dales yesterday, just over 50km from Kirkby Stephen to Horton, after travelling on the Settle to Carlisle railway. Finished in the dark over Ingleborough (on purpose, stated late) for an adventurous end. #running #trailrunning #fellrunning #ultra
09.11.2025 11:21 β π 11 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Now that I'm officially over it, here's a achilles tendonitis photo, when it was fresh from 300km Northern Traverse. Some things learned:
1) recovery is slow, steady, and not linear. Stay patient.
2) using it helps, as long as pain stays below 3 out of 10.
3) specific exercises (heel lifts) help too
Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine has got to be up there. Particularly if youve been ignoring your physiotherapist recently...
19.10.2025 17:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Another one from last weekend and Lakes in a Day - very unusual to have such amazing weather in October, and a delight to coincide with race day. Last time this was sideways rain and wading through an expanded Windermere. #running #ultra #fellrunning #runchat
19.10.2025 09:58 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Blencathra summit, looking south towards the Helvellyn range, on the Lakes in a Day 50 mile mountain ultra yesterday #running #trailrunning #fellrunning #runsky
12.10.2025 08:53 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Ill Bell in the Lakes, one of the best little summits on a great ridge. 34km today from Ambleside. Feeling good after a big 7 days and back to back long fell days. Taper time now ahead of the epic that is Lakes in a Day. #running #fellrunning #trailrunning #runsky
26.09.2025 17:59 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Lingy Hut in the northern fells, view down towards Mosedale, towards the end of a circuit of the Caldew Valley. #running #fellrunning #trailrunning #runsky
26.09.2025 07:14 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Beautiful day in the Lakes today - a 38km circuit of the Caldew valley, aka Back o' Skidda. Apart from the obvious honeypots of Blencathra and Skiddaw, a quiet area with great views to Scotland and the Pennines. #fellrunning #trailrunning #running #runsky
25.09.2025 18:51 β π 16 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0A break from running at the weekend - instead a wet weather camping trip with my eldest daughter, and took a trip to Cathedral Quarry in Little Langdale - stunning, and she loved practising taking photos...
16.09.2025 11:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nice long run today sticking to the high ground around the near part of the Peak District - using some of the routes of the Kinder Trog and Bullock Smithy race routes. 45km and around 1500m ascent. #trailrunning #running #ultra #runsky
05.09.2025 20:14 β π 20 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Love the sight of an easy, grassy, downhill trail taking you where you want to go, on a sunny day! Home-made trail marathon route around some of my favourite local hills, western Peak District. #running #runsky #trailrunning
02.09.2025 05:28 β π 13 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0On a Dad & daughters camping trip up in the Lakes - so not a running week but getting some glorious views on shorter walks while dodging the rain!
28.08.2025 08:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Rounding out the Cornwall trip with a run up the tough Bude-Hartland section of the SW Coast Path, over the frontier into Devon, round the corner to Clovelly. Stunning on the W-facing coastline, more pastoral for a while then lovely woodland approaching Clovelly. #running #trailrunning #ultra
