Today, we remember women hurt or killed by cowardly violence and stand with survivors and their loved ones.

As the 16 Days of Activism begins, we recommit to preventing violence, strengthening supports, and doing the work so every woman in our province feels safe.

We’re improving how the justice system responds to survivors, expanding crisis supports, and investing in prevention and culturally safe, Indigenous-led solutions. Allowing people to access help faster, feel safer, and get the help and healing they deserve.

What you can do:
- Speak up if you notice signs of gender-based violence.
- Offer support without judgment.
- Create safety in your relationships by ensuring equity and respect with those in your life.
- stay informed by learning more about gender-based violence prevention.

Gender-based violence disproportionately impacts women, girls, and gender-diverse people, especially Indigenous women and other marginalized communities. It is preventable but only if we act.

DASH uses modern building methods, such as prefabricated parts and standardized designs, to speed up the process and reduce expenses. It will also help builders access B.C.-made materials from throughout the province, adding jobs and helping build homes that are driving B.C.’s prosperity.

A new online platform called DASH, Digitally Accelerated Standardized Housing, is helping developers and non-profit organizations design and construct three- to six-storey buildings more quickly and at lower cost using products manufactured in B.C.

Today is National Housing Day and we are working towards building homes faster.

Korean Heritage month was officially designated in October recognize the remarkable social, cultural, economic, and civic contributions of Korean Canadians in British Columbia.

And beginning January 1, 2026, couples where one partner is receiving disability assistance, will also benefit from an increased annual earnings exemption, allowing them to keep more of the money they earn.

I am grateful to the self-advocates who led the call for this change.

To help people feel safe, welcome, and included, we are changing the spousal rule. Starting December 1, 2025, all couples receiving disability assistance will receive the same support allowance as they would if they were two single people.

We want people to have the supports they need to live with dignity and independence. So we’re making a change for couples who both receive disability assistance.

Through both World Wars, the Korean War, UN peacekeeping missions, the former Yugoslavia, the Gulf War, and Afghanistan, Canadian soldiers have always been there to defend our way of life.

Thank you to those who inspire us to remember the veterans, those still serving, and all those impacted by war

From my home in Coquitlam and all the way across the world, people honoured the fallen and reflected on the terrible cost of war.

Francis went on to become a councillor and chief with the Wasauksing Nation and then chief of the Native Independent Government, an early Indigenous political organization which advocated for the civil rights and self-governance of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

As a soldier, he was a scout and one of the deadliest snipers of World War I. Francis was awarded the Military Medal and two bars to the Military Medal (meaning three separate instances of his bravery being rewarded). He is one of only 39 Canadians to receive the Military Medal and two bars.

It is Indigenous Veterans Day today and I want to introduce you to the most decorated Indigenous soldier in Canadian history, Francis Pegahmagabow. Francis was an Ojibwe soldier, politician, and activist.
