Right behind where I'm seated now is an external hard drive where I store about 75-80% of all my digital music. On it somewhere is a folder containing around 120 different versions of Walk On By, and out of all those versions I would rank the Stranglers version 121st.

I will never get used to the fact that there are people who think the Stranglers' version of Walk On By is the best version.

Following Lesley Woods' recent announcement about reforming the Au Pairs and a "45th Anniversary" tour, we, the three other original band members want to clarify and emphasis that we are not involved. The New incarnation will be Lesley and whoever she recruits to replace us. Lesley emailed us in May to inform us of her plans along with an option to basically audition if we met her requirements. Unsurprisingly we declined. We asked her to make it clear that this wasn't the original band and to modify the name to reflect that. We then discovered she had trademarked the name behind our backs. We could and may well contest this, but for now she's clearly planning to use the original name. Had circumstances been different, we would have cherished the chance to reunite, but the main stumbling block is that Lesley's relationship with us has been very turbulent for decades and it would be difficult if not impossible t work with her again.
