As a pure parade, Endymion is, weirdly, sort of underrated. The whole flashy electric-neon spectacle of the thing is over the top but grounded by good themes and a high level of float artistry.

obvs I know all this stuff is personal experience with so many variables at play that everything will be different for everyone BUT—

—I will remember this partly as the year the Muses crowd was horrible and evil and the Endymion crowd was chill, fun, and nice lmao

Enforcement matters btw. There were ladders on Orleans and they were almost all set back several feet from the front. That makes a huge difference.

That was one of my better Endymion experiences. Live close to walk up to the turn onto Canal. Just behind friendly-enough colonizers. Didn’t get hit with beads. Did get hit by a thrown beer. Can see sidewalk side and neutral ground side of floats at the turn. And bands played thereabout.

I think it’s made things worse at Muses the last few years for us because we just take up more space and it pisses off the people who’ve overtaken the area where we’ve always watched.

Yep this is more a house party for us than a parade day (we’re a couple blocks up Carrollton from Orleans) but usually we’ll walk down and hang back for a while. But this year nice people kept offering their spots for the kids to get closer, caught throws for them, made conversation, etc
