Right, I have in fact used LLMs quite a bit out of curiosity and there isn’t really any meaningful *skill* involved in writing prompts and uncritically accepting whatever output it barfs out - no matter what the AI boosters might want people to believe.

It is, yep. We’ve grown the budget a good bit the last few years, fortunately.

The whole SBC is just breaking away from ULM.

Even USM doesn’t anymore. Budget for last year was $32 million.

Fed is best. Families should have all the resources available in order to ensure they can feed their new babies in the manner that works best for them. Neither formula or breastfeeding should come with shame

what's the word for the feeling you get upon returning home to New Orleans after a month away

Mine is from living in the French Quarter as a kid. Park, school, grocery, a church, small apts, single houses, kids to play with; some rich, some poor, and apparently there was some adult entertainment available for grown ups. All within a 100 square, walkable blocks.

The sponsor for every PBS children's show will soon be gone. They're willfully throwing away the best of this country, and we won't soon get it back.

in a deluge of shitty news, this rippled hard into my spirit. public media is essential. people NEED access to programming, news, & education that isn’t filtered thru corporate oligarchy influence & $$$. i learned the goddamn language that i didn’t come to this country knowing bc of sesame street.

64 degrees and raining here in the Hudson Valley the day before beginning the return trip to New Orleans where surely the temperature situation is not dissimilar

anyway, freddie here again just betrays himself as a back itching for the lash. He loves defined hierarchy, the more authoritarian the better. Any attempt to bridge hierarchy is cringe.

he caricatures the student-focused approach as a lame attempt to be “cool” when, in fact, being student-focused means doing everything he lists as necessary and more. It means compassion for their wellbeing and a willingness to put in the time for them as individuals.

he caricatures attempts to create active dialogue with students, a thing I encourage. “If you disagree,” I say often, “push back on me.” A lot of learning can happen this way — some students get it only after you’ve responded to their disagreements!

in addition to attacking a strawman freddie builds an idealized professor who is a strange mix of things nearly all professors do already with some other rigid, poor techniques. He favors an on-high approach in which the professor is an ultimate authority on all matters—
