Also despite me vending this weekend, I've given up dyeing more fiber or yarn because the day job is taking all my time at the moment. And fuck it. If I sell out, hooray! I might put a dent in the loan I gave the business to stockpile supplies.

I was at the Salida Fiber Festival this weekend and it's one of my favorite festivals. It's in a park by a river and the vibe is chill and relaxing. They do such a great job selecting vendors. Really high caliber and a good mix. And the town is great! If you're in CO, don't skip this fiber festival!

MAD doesn't make me money. Every cent goes back into buying supplies and stock. I take a utilities tax write-off but that's it. This is a hobby business and at some point the stress of dealing with this supply WTFery will mean I give up and close.

I panic bought bumps of targhee and rambouillet because that's all I can get right now. I have some yarn stockpiled, including an acrylic/wool blend that is my "just in case" supply. I thought I got some domestic yarn but it's Canadian.

That said, there will be a wool shortage in the US. There already is a wool shortage. Millwool has been out of my go-to bases since July. Shep's was so backed up I didn't get fiber in time for a show despite ordering a month earlier. And they are 100% domestic wool. It's going to be bad, folks.

It feels strange going about my life while my country continues it's downward spiral into authoritrian fascism. I grew up and lived outside DC most of my life, and worked in DC for almost a decade. Watching my city being used as a political pawn by a wannabe dictator is maddening.
