*Some* ambassadorships. Small tropical islands usually get the donors, places like the PRC, hardship and danger posts (you know places billionaires don't want to live), and important allied usually get professional FSOs.

You misspelled Newt Gingrich.

It's hot in the summer and your electric bill goes through the roof. Then sometimes it gets cold in the winter and your electrical bill goes through the roof and all your pipes explode.

Right - the GOP went from wink wink nudge nudge on this stuff to pretty exclusively electing only people who believe it's true. Everyone else who doesn't pretends to so they don't get taken out in a primary by some rabid fanatic.

I mean.....so far they have?

It likely started out that way but slowly they got high on their own supply.

Also, it's semi fine to believe that as long as you aren't trying to govern.

Part of the whole role playing in the imperium thing would be you're all subservient to someone...

I knew a lot of the early VK workers. Durov always seemed a bit odd...

Heard anything else about the alleged Iranian exfiltration of a load of Israeli Intel, including Bibi's black mail files?

All of this adds up to we have local police forces with military surplus - and they use it because if they don't the jurisdiction they work for will make them get rid of it.

03.06.2025 17:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Then you have the Border Patrol, whichs jurisdiction over the border and everything within 100 miles of one, but only for customs and immigration violations.

03.06.2025 17:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So for example there the US Postal Inspecorate Service whuch has jurisdiction over mail crimes and the US Park Police which has jurisdiction over national parks.

So because of how US federalism works we don't have a national police force - we have federal law enforcement that has jurisdiction over certain crimes and certain areas.

It doesn't matter if it's true or not though. We don't have to pretend it is, but much like Hatians eating pets or Mr. Abbrego-Garcia, facts don't matter to the ghouls in the white house.

That would be fitting with how Russian cops operate.

Almost like fascists can't really build or maintain anything. I'm sure the correct FBI director purging the Agency will have no negative consequences.

No idea. Could be that too, but the Russian articles I read said "found like that"?

As in the kinds originating in Russia, be they real or, more likely, imaginary.

But they don't have the capacity anymore for dealing with an external threat that can perfectly pass as "Russian" and who have been made citizens in large numbers.

Backfoot him more than hitting a good chunk of the Russian nuclear triad?

Here's the thing - they aren't going to stretch thinner. The Russian internal security forces are for keeping control on internal threats, period.
