Look, he could’ve told me there’s 2k as well, and I would just have believed him.

1. I know nothing about Warhammer and I’m good that way
2. Arguing felt like a trap

He said that 30k was where the more “historical players” were. I took a long moment before responding, and slow blinked meanwhile.

Then he started explaining stuff about the dark elves.

It’s like peeling a mutant onion that keeps on giving.

I am currently being schooled in Warhammer 30k, and instructed in the fact that Warhammer, 30k and 40k are entirely different things.

No it was listing faction subreddits and listing what other subreddits were commonly followed by those subscribers

And you could extract an interesting portrait of what kind of person was attracted to each faction as a result

This will not work 💙

Just found out a friend is super into Warhammer and just tried to indoctrinate me, so I thought I would entertain him with those tidbits while we’re having a drink.

Can a kind soul point me to the post about the Warhammer factions and subreddit subscribers/profile per faction? Am I making sense? It popped up maybe a month ago and it was very entertaining

It’s pretty obvious that this is all performative and serving his interests

I mean, it IS obvious but maybe not enough idk

No my point isn’t that the implementation is hard. The core of the challenge is to reach a point where the information listed is accurate, fair, and what people within the team agree on.

Oh hey Malford!

Also no I think I would die in the attempt. The launch credits were already A Thing as it was 🤣

Oh hahaha nah I have 22 years of accumulated nightmares to help me think of all the worst case scenarios, in various teams between 5 to 1000s members.

But yes, I too dream of downscaling at times. It would still be hard, but differently.

I feel like I’ve dredged up far too many dev triggers/bad tropes in the above, and I’m a bit bummed.

Imo this is realistic only with a team located in a single studio with fewer than 150 team members, and one whose culture is generally collaborative and aligned.

Oh, and the timeless classic: And within a fairly linear timeline, without big upheavals or responsibility shifts or the like.

I'm at the airport waiting for my flight home from AdventureX 2025, so here's a thread of the games that were exhibited at this year's event.

Tbh the resources it'd require to pull this off on a very large team is the easiest challenge to overcome.

Having clarity on what people did in complex++ overlapping ecosystems is hard.
Then you have to deal with people's opinions & perceptions of who actually contributed to what & how.
Nightmare.

I can see how it could be an absolute nightmare to implement on large+ teams, but maybe the reason why smaller teams haven't been doing yet is just a matter of exposure and inspiration?
I hope this inspires many! It's a great initiative ✨💖

Credits for Brent Porter (3D art lead) and Catherine Menabde (2D art lead) are shown here. There's a lengthy description of what they did, with a pastiche of various Demonschool characters underneath, messing around with a computer.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

ah crap ok ok I'll take this seriously 💀💀

the thought crossed my mind earlier 😵

24.11.2025 20:28 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

yeah I'm totally in denial mode right now
...and mostly, really trying to avoid the patronizing Swedish doctors I'll inevitably need to argue with

(and seriously?? yikes - glad you're better now)

yes that's a fair point I wasn't thinking of - butter in the EU tends to have higher fat content and generally has more taste/better (at least my experience)

I also... really like good butter

I think I've upgraded as a gamedev: I have reached heartburn status.

I think it's pretty common in North America, not just the US

From my perspective it was pretty rare in France, fairly easy to find in Sweden. I even found the Skippy brand ;)

Peanuts are not unusual, but nut butters are just not common (outside of choco-hazelnut spreads).

24.11.2025 19:49 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

peanut butter is crushed peanuts into a paste - the butter part of the name is just the way English chooses to describe it

So the butter (dairy) adds another taste into the layering

24.11.2025 19:43 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

oh yeah
Salted/semi-salted butter ideally

it's an amazing pairing with honey

24.11.2025 19:19 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

...but have you tried the butter, peanut butter and honey sandwich? 👌

24.11.2025 18:42 — 👍 7    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

Then imagine millions of people drinking in the absolute drivel and thinking to themselves: "What amazing thought leaders those two are".

Pssssshhew 🤯

Those are amazing

…I don’t think I’ve ever had one of those (look, I come from the place of smoked-meat-not-pastrami)

Willing to attempt (I mean the sandwich itself is fine obviously)

Took me a long time to feel ready after losing my cat last year.
