I understand the decision making, and that this is all hypothetical numbers in a thought experiment. But for that to work, even as a thought experiment, it needs to map to reality a bit more. I get that its not really worth litigating, I just see 40-80% workload and I can't take the rest seriously

Looking back at @thebonniesituation.bsky.social 's post, it still doesn't really hold. If we take these examples as good use cases of ai, they're about supporting developers in specific tasks, personal development, and background work, not replacing them entirely. (Not what you're arguing, I know)

That's fair, I think these are good reads. I appreciate that you're up front about the challenges faced and the contexts this works in; it's not sensationalist like a lot of pro-llm writing most people here are used to seeing, it's practical.

You're right, but I do feel like these profiles on small towns & what these data centers do to them are important in the short term, ahead of this spike in data centers that's supposed to happen in the next 2-3 years. If people see some plan for a data center near them, they'll think "Morrow County"

That's not what ai is actually good for though, it's not going to replace 3 engineers working full time for months. Simon's examples - stylistic or formatting changes and rote work - it can mostly do. Any more than that and you need to bring the developers back to fix everything it'll get wrong
