As an "EIPOD" interdisciplinary postdoc in @jamiehackett.bsky.social and our lab, @denbobalab.bsky.social found that "Paternal microbiome perturbations impact offspring fitness" (2024): antibiotic treatment of male mice led to low birth weight & higher mortality in offspring

Strongly recommend DNAme researchers to take a look at this important study. Consistent with work from Schubeler lab: higher-order mut in DNAme reader proteins lead to only minor transcriptional changes. Reinforces the idea that DNAme does not establish heterochromatin through reader proteins

Protein-based inheritance could be the new frontier in understanding transgenerational epigenetic inheritance. Great preview from @odedrechavi.bsky.social and @ethanewe.bsky.social on a very interesting new paper from @wbderry.bsky.social lab.
02.12.2024 16:42 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 7 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We are beginning to understand how the full repertoire of inheritable units can affect phenotypic variability
Beyond the main player - DNA sequence - transmitted chromatin, RNA, metabolites and proteins all play their roleโฆ
By definition, enhancers can activate from a distance. But with increased distance between enhancer and promoter, the activation drops. To study this systematically, we build a synthetic locus: www.cell.com/molecular-ce... 1/12

Many other super lab members not (yet) on Bluesky! So finally, two postdocs that just moved on...
@denbobalab.bsky.social has established his group at MPI on #microbiome-germline axis. @mdura.bsky.social has just preprinted on #intergenerational-inheritance and is on the market!
Check them out!

Fearless grad student @catrinteleri.bsky.social leads a major computational analysis project. Want to discuss polycomb function, ask Catrin!
More of a silent scroller than prolific poster, if we all follow Catrin - apart from being quite funny - weโll hear more of her insights!
