Have you ever seen a wren have a bath? No? Nor had I till just now. Filmed through a rain-spotted window & on my phone, so not perfect, but hope it brings you a spot of delight nonetheless 🪶

Someone should tell the Torygraph that the nebulous, sunlit uplands, exact-same-benefits Brexit that they championed was only voted for by just over a third of voters in the first place (37%). And they are now disproportionately dead.

Yes indeed. Didn’t someone once try to fly a plane into it? Seems strange to think how that was averted . Courage was needed.

I have always loved this quote. In 1958 it was the quote you could use for your O level English Language essay. It was a gift to me, I lived opposite à harbour and just wrote and wrote and wrote.

Church door beneath simple Norman archway

An ancient way to a distant time through the narrowest of doorways; the delightfully intimate entrance to the remote church at Little Hormead, Hertfordshire. #AdoorableThursday

We must act now: without a written constitution, Reform UK will have carte blanche to toxify our nation | Goerge Monbiot It means breaking with hundreds of years of tradition, but it can’t wait. As hard-right figures spread division and laud autocrats, a fail-safe is vital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

We're facing a political emergency: a high likelihood of an shamelessly authoritarian government in 2029. So we urgently need this basic safeguard: a codified constitution.
This week's column explains what we're missing and why it's so important.

Voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around. Glad to get the chance to talk to some of the volunteers and organizers doing the hard work to make sure Prop 50 passes. This vote will have critical implications, not just for California, but for our entire country.

People are just realising that we had a better grip on immigration within the EU They gave us bar staff and builders - we gave them sunburnt pensioners and seaside property booms. It was win-win.

So when Farage rails against the latest migration figures, he's railing against a monster of his own making. The EU didn't impose uncontrolled immigration on us; it offered a framework that reflected geography, economics and reality”

ie - control.

Britain's problems in one capsule. If you pay to go to a posh private school and Oxford and do History and marry into wealth you can say anything, do anything, smash anything, fail anywhere. And people will still lap up what you say and nod like donkeys. (1/2) www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...
