Quote from today's creative writing work: "Algernon Poole may be a highly respectable politician, but as far as our mother is concerned he’s an ass. And as far as Isabel’s concerned his daughter is even worse.”

I would! One of my cats really likes pulling apart felted balls... I did get a felting needle to try and fix them up, but a single needle might not be enough...

On the right is a creature that looks very much like a bull or a buffalo, facing outwards and spraying dung behind it. Its face bears a grimace of effort. On the left, a fellow with a sword protects himself from the onslaught with a shield. He looks deeply unimpressed with the situation he has found himself in.

Behold, the Bonnacon! It is a beast like a bull that uses its dung as a weapon.

An elephant (left) facing off with a green wyverny sort of dragon. The dragon is about the size of the elephant's head; the rest of the elephant appears to be under water. The dragon is breathing fire, and the elephat's expression at this is beautifully represented shock and dismay.

Medieval elephants are always a good time; here's one having an altercation with its mortal enemy, the dragon!

It’s International Day of People with Disabilities and I really want to talk about one of the most severe, under-researched, underfunded disabilities: ME/CFS.

This complex neuroimmune condition has a lower quality of life that chemo, kidney failure, and late-stage HIV patients.

Some darlings are great; if we killed them all, Shakespeare would be awfully bland.

But some darlings don't belong in the story you wrote. Better to determine what needs to go during the editing phase. Don't bother during the first draft phase. That's the official Darlings Recess. They get to play.

Gentle reminder as we hurtle towards the conclusion of another year:

Choose kindness, but never at the cost of your peace. The world is shit right now and kindness despite that is in itself an act of rebellion, but not when it means entertaining the heinous bullshit of fools.

Take care, folks.

β€œHave Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Right??? I'm patiently waiting for a miniseries that can spend the appropriate time on all of the threads. I reckon that's the way to do it!

Mine is The Count of Monte Cristo, which is understandable given the length, but the revenge always gets simplified and my favourite subplots cut! Seeing Edmond regain a moral compass due to the good hearts of his enemies' children is important (and they're freaking adorable).

A young girl with red hair in two long braids stands outdoors in a sunlit green forest. She wears a wide-brimmed straw hat, a light brown floral long-sleeve blouse, and a blue-and-white striped pinafore dress with white ribbon bows at the shoulders. She holds a large rolled-up red-and-brown patterned blanket or quilt in front of her with both hands, looking slightly to the side with a neutral expression.

When the two-part miniseries Anne of Green Gables debuted on CBC on Dec. 1, 1985, nearly six million Canadians tuned in. It went on to win 10 Geminis, an Emmy and a Peabody.
To this day, the miniseries is studied in film schools.
This is the story of that miniseries.
