I was just at The Twisted Spine a few weeks ago for @maryrobinettekowal.com and @sentencebender.bsky.social’s book launch. They’re a wonderful brand new store that got hit hard by last week’s storm.

Yes, he's polling poorly, but he still has the power to do what he wants. If we want to stop him, we must *build the power* to do that. Sadly, we cannot disapprove our way out of fascism.

Sherwood Forest in Robin McKinley’s The Outlaws of Sherwood was so vivid to me as a teenager. It made me fall in love with a trail to a magical creek near where I grew up (in the Montana Rockies).

This is the workshop that (along with a dream and some geophysics hyperfixation) inspired me to write the Broken Earth trilogy! I loved it.

We Don't Know, But Let's Try It - Boston Review For economistΒ Albert O. Hirschman, socialΒ planning meant creative experimentation rather than theoretical certainty.

With a side of academic bravery in the face of fascism! I sometimes picture Hirschman fleeing across the Pyrenees with an extra pair of socks and a copy of Montaigne’s Essais, and it gives me hope. πŸ’œ www.bostonreview.net/articles/we-...

My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace.

It immediately sold out so he had another one that also sold out.

Yes, please! What a treat. I am currently reading and loving The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. Just before that I read and loved Percival Everett’s James. Some revolutionary energy here, I’m noticing! I would love any ideas that come to mind, any genre.
