The House that Sailed Away, by Pat Hutchins, has that sentiment in it, & itβs 50 years old this year. (Heavens, another anniversary to add to the Edmund Fitzgerald & the Dismissal of the Whitlam Government.)

Fifty years ago, if you mean the Whitlam Dismissal. Ignore me if you meant something else.

Youβll be pleased to know that buying from Kobo involved absolutely no snafus at all. I must confess that Iβve got no further as yet than your denunciation of AI, & itβs likely ability to provide shockingly bad afternoon tea. I didnβt expect the legal material to provide a grin, but there we are.

They havenβt refunded me, so I cancelled the ebook. I might try Kobo instead. And if BigSouthAmericanRiver is being unreasonable, apologies arenβt needed. It isnβt your fault they can be humongous dingbats.

Ah. So possibly no ebook version next week? Good thing Iβve just bought the print copy from your shop online, because Iβd probably want a print copy sooner or later anyway.

Had some rather spectacular rumbleclouds this morning, & now the BoM is predicting more. Iβd believe it when I see it, but the wind is blowing rather more than a gentle breeze, and the sky is beginning to darken in despite of Daylight Savings Time.

I did, yes. I will be patient until your travels allow you to dispatch my copy. They do say good things come to those who wait after all.

Mild concern: just saw a mouse on the back verandah, skittering off toward the back stairs. I do hope it never finds the doggy door & learns how to get in. Also, we might need to watch how we keep the folding door from the loungeroom to the verandah open. No waltzing in, mouse, donβt do it.

2) a peekaboo in response to the bub. I did find myself feeling a bit sorry for bubβs Mum, because sometimes bubβs response was to show us how good bub is at bouncing on the parental legs. Bubβs Mum took it well, probably because other people were helping keep bub entertained, instead of screaming.

Accompanied Mum to an appointment at lunchtime today. A woman came in with her very small child. Bub looks at me, big-eyed, & I wave to bub, who looks at me again. I wave again, but when it happens once more I pulled an Ooo surprised face. This turned into a game - a wave, a face pulled or 1)

Murder in the Cathedral has downloaded to my ereader app. Took a quick look at the About the author pages, and sadly itβs in the past tense, seeing as this is a posthumous book for Kerry Greenwood. Alas.

I need to change the mop head sometime soon: there was a lot of mopping up after Jasper today, with him losing his ability to stay upright because the floor was slippery, thanks to his efforts. Itβs related to your problem but not the same at all.

The Tongans are playing football against the Kiwis this afternoon. The Tongans issued their challenge first, then the Kiwis responded with a haka. After it finished, the camera caught a couple of Tongans with big grins on their faces. Of course this is serious, & yetβ¦

Hazy sort of a day out there, overcast, occasional misty dampness from the sky. Iβm almost thinking that the backyard beyond the verandah is from another realm, ever so slightly detached from the known.
