Watching it felt like being reunited with old friends. I only wish there were more episodes.

If we don’t make a stand now about the over platforming of Reform and the lack of coverage of our other parties, we’ll regret it for decades. The damage will be done and it will be too late. Sign now and please pass on. We have 6 weeks to get to 10k petition.parliament.uk/petitions/71...

It has become something of a more pertinent critique /since/ but it should not be missed by pretty much anyone that a huge proportion of the "SNP Does Nothing, Why Wont They Do Things" type of commentary in the Sturgeon years came from men.

In short. I think Fergus will find out next year that praise from largely unionist city fathers in the Courier who used him as a proxy to beat the SNP government doesn't amount to electoral success.

I think his association with the SNP will be too much for unionist voters who will likely see the Lib Dems as a better vehicle to beat the SNP. I think Reform will be a factor, as well as another known independent councillor.

I think a lot of Ewing's vote previously was for the party as opposed to Fergus himself. He won't be able to rely on that. People who want an SNP government will vote SNP. That leaves him with an unknown personal vote, maybe some disenfranchised SNP voters.

Second, the progress the SNP has made on the A9 is more than any other party - others wanted it shelved, and right now there is considerable work on dualling.

My personal thought is that he has fallen for the hype the press have given him over the A9 and A96 dualing delay. There are multiple issues there. He was part of the government that didn't make the desired progress.

New Parties, Old Cultures It seems like there’s been a re-set to the 1970s. Scottish nationalism used to be a fringe phenomenon confined to the back-rooms of pubs and the electoral margins, glorying in β€˜Scotland…

I am definitely in favour of avoiding the by elections as they are costly & participation is poor. I have wondered about the feasibility of a co-opt/list for independents, though, as by their nature, they can be a more mixed bag in terms of political beliefs. A deputy system gets around this.

How does the Irish system deal with replacements for independents if they stand down?

What would you change about visual presentation? I preferred the darker ring ropes and canvass and less slick look.

Given the success of the Republic of Ireland's scheme, and Wales and Northern Ireland launching their own schemes, I believe Scotland needs to revisit launching their own scheme. Surely Labour won't be as petty as the Tories were in blocking it?
