The reason we need to defeat Republicans is to keep trans people safe. If you’re willing to abandon trans people to beat Republicans that means you’ve decided to start by losing, and you’ve taken a path that won’t even beat Republicans in the election you’ve chosen to make meaningless.

This is a really weird way to frame the rehabilitation of Alfred Dreyfus in France. One could easily argue that these two decisions are not in contrast or balance to one another at all, but are both equally expressions of the best of French republicanism.

Dreyfus, a French Jew, was wrongly convicted in a landmark case of Euro antisemitism c. 1900. Now the NYT paints France's rehabilitation of Dreyfus as meant to counteract the 'antisemitism' of their potentially recognizing Palestine.

tldr If you read NYT regularly you will come away dumber for it.
