Even ten dollars to these funds can be a great kindness

It feels sometimes, like people forget how brutal evictions really are. In Minnesota, you only get a 14 day notice before a potential eviction. Your eviction follows you which makes it almost impossible to find housing again and there are very few social safety nets for being unhoused

Today we are launching a new intitative of Stand With Minnesotaβ€”KeepMNHoused.com, a rent-relief campaign backed with a $1.5 matching fund from the Wilson Foundation.

Thousands of MN families are at risk of eviction because of the ICE occupation’s lasting impacts. We can keep them housed.

y'all met the grocery need SO fast - but we're also raising rent money for this family because their income earners are still in detention: the need is $2400, and we're at $580 so far. I'm not the point person for this one, so donations to me will then be passed on to the main hat-passer πŸ’Έ

I am still asking the community to remain cautious and vigilant until we can confirm what this truly means. They said they are not backing down from mass deportation but will be ending the operation in Minnesota soon. 5/

Only $1700 more to help keep seven St. Paul families in their homes. This needs to be filled by tomorrow so their kids can be safe inside for another month. Let's get them there!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Powderhorn Rent Fund. Unfortunately, Governor Walz has refused to enact an eviction moratorium, so we need the help of our community.

Great to have the West St. Paul City Council join Minneapolis, St. Paul and Roseville in calling for an eviction moratorium so no family is forced to choose between making rent and risking being kidnapped by ICE.

Governor Walz is choosing not to stop evictions for our neighbors in hiding from ICE.

Who would have thought we'd need a fundraiser for the kind tow truck driver who is rescuing the cars left behind--sometimes engines still running--after ICE kidnapped the driver? Fundraiser tomorrow in MPls or please donate. www.tiktok.com/@leos.tow/ph... www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...

Minneapolis allocates additional $1 million for rental assistance The City of Minneapolis will allocate $1 million in funds for emergency rental assistance, as families impacted by the ongoing federal immigration operation seek help paying bills.

Today I led the City Council to allocate $1 million to provide emergency rent assistance to families facing eviction due to ICE’s ongoing occupation. This action was in response to Gov Walz failure to enact an eviction moratorium, leaving thousands of renters across Mpls vulnerable to eviction.

It would be a great time, if you have the funds, to subscribe to BookForum or LARB because we're going to need them more than ever but jesus, we are all passing the same $20 around trying to save everything

I have found most coverage of my works often tokenizing--we didn't do an all-white list, here's Megan and another writer of color look at the cover! look at the marketing copy!--but the books section of the post treated me with respect and rigor, the things that matter most to me as a writer

a small personal feeling about all this: I don't know if I would have much of a career without The Washington Post's Books section; the coverage and thoughtfulness of their reviews of The Women Could Fly and Meet Me at the Crossroads helped readers and librarians find me

VII. CONCLUSION
There is an old adage among lawyers. If you have the facts on your side, pound the
facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table.
Secretary Noem, the record to-date shows, does not have the facts on her side or at least has
ignored them. Does not have the law on her side or at least has ignored it. Having neither and
bringing the adage into the 21st century, she pounds X (f/k/a Twitter).
Kristi Noem has a First Amendment right to call immigrants killers, leeches, entitlement
junkies, and any other inapt name she wants. Secretary Noem, however, is constrained by both
our Constitution and the APA to apply faithfully the facts to the law in implementing the TPS
program. The record to-date shows she has yet to do that.
By accompanying Order, the Court GRANTS Plaintiffs' Renewed Motion for a Stay
 Under 5 U.S.C. Β§ 705.

This is very good. But, it bears repeating, none of this is isolated.

The subhead says "A local principal, teachers, and parent volunteers have banded together to keep the families safe."

This is EVERY school in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and many suburbs and small towns across the state.

On January 24th, my parents home burned down. They and my disabled brother escaped with only minor burns but they lost everything they've ever had.

I'm running a GoFundMe to help them recover and rebuild. I would be deeply grateful for any donations but also for any shares!
