Less than a year later - here we go! @steampowered.com announces its new hardware.
#indiedev, if you're ignoring controller support in your game, it's time to re-think. Steam is now a home console.

Holy hell!
12.11.2025 22:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A side-by-side comparison showing an art style transformation for a game called "Snake in the Dark." The left image features a smooth, illustrated style with a rounded font for the title, showing a cute snake in an arched doorway looking at a glowing cube. A large red arrow points to the right image, which shows the same scene recreated in a pixel art style, with a pixelated font for the title and the snake now looking at a small, white mouse.
Just a small update to my game's logo and capsule images (giving them more breathing room, replacing old cube with a mouse that's in the game now) resulted in significant uptick in my daily wishlist gain.
I was putting it off since a year. Let that be a lesson to all you

Thanks for doing this yet again!
Very fortunate timing, our game was just announced.

Blunt Blade and a Hundred Halls is a cozy, wholesome first-person slasher roguelite adventure game where a boy meets a friendly devil who lives in his basement walls and decides to feed him with his all-time favorite food: freshly sourced dungeon freak meat (yum!).

Next Fest ended last week ;-) But here's our newly announced game:

13.10.2025 12:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I mean just show them in the scale you intend them to appear in the game - nevermind there's no game yet. :-) It's really hard to figure out what am I looking at when the pixels take up half of the screen.

Very hard to follow the animation and imagine the finished character at this scale. Maybe export them in in-game resolution, to give the viewer a better grasp of how it will look like in the game itself?
13.10.2025 10:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I feel for you!
I did all the pixelart in my game, and then made some drawings of the main characters in pencil (granted - I used a popular cartoon for some reference), traced them into pixel art, made two distinct variations... and I get a lot of comments that "my art looks AI". Screw this noise :(
So stylish!

A digital frontier.
I tried to picture clusters of information as they traveled through the computer.
Ships, motorcycles.
With the circuits like freeways.
I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see.
And then, one day...
I got in.
I'm anticipating the release of a Steam home console for some time now. It would make perfect sense.

Oh, in that case I applaud you even more. Custom-made always has an edge over store-bought assets, when it comes to imbuing a game with a "soul" of its own :)
06.10.2025 19:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can clearly see all the passion and hard work that's been put into the new visuals, but Ireally LOVE the old-school aesthetics you've started with :)
04.10.2025 17:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0so cool! I love the sword swinging mechanics (if I read it correctly) that makes you think about the direction of movement to gain an attack opportunity. Never seen anything like it!
03.10.2025 09:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's all fun and games until... your UI... develops... an eye?

It is, it has been, IMO, and I don't see that changing, sadly. But at the very least cozy/wholesome games have their own niche and audience.
25.09.2025 19:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The way I see it, it's a step towards reducint the wishlist value inflation, that's been a real plague for the last year or two.
25.09.2025 19:17 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This really co-incides with the introduction of the new feature. My guess is this will make gaining and maintaining a wishlist even harder for games without a significant buzz off Steam. But in the end it will also mean the treshold you need to get to to have a good shot will be lower in general.
25.09.2025 19:17 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0screenshot from the newest Steam store GUI with wishlist count featured next to the search bar in the page's header
This might have to do with Steam's new UI.
A button linking to user's personal wishlist page is now prominently featured next to the main search bar. A lot of people are being reminded their wishlists are bloated and head in to do some housekeeping, removing the games they don't instantly recognize.
Hello Wally. You're a nice clump of pixels, lots of character for such a lil guy.
