I asked a question on a Monday AM meeting regarding ICE’s escalation because I hadn’t seen much guidance, and as I asked the question realized that ICE’s escalation was about 3-5 business hours old.

There's absolutely an audience out there who doesn't care what you did to who or what you sold out for how much. If you're someone who abuses others or sells out for a big bag, congratulations, that's your audience. Enjoy it or don't, but don't come bitching to your ex about who you're with now.

I forget its original provenance, but “respect” meaning both “treat me like a human” and “treat me like an authority” so “disrespect me and I’ll disrespect you” means “you don’t treat me like an authority, I won’t treat you like a human.” HR trainings “disrespected” them. So the beatings commence.

It’s beyond this. To them, the Dems DID act like this. To them, equitable distribution of government services, a non-binary barista existing in public and having a tip jar, pressing 1 for English, these are horrors visited upon them equivalent to the horrors they’re visiting on Chicago now.

Unless and until the settlements in the civil suits resulting from these assaults start coming from law enforcement pension funds, nothing will change. We the taxpayers are funding this behavior. We need to make law enforcement pay for their own bad behavior.

The "Southwest now has assigned seating" commercial, showing people acting like they've been given the greatest gift ever, has the added bonus of Southwest telling its most loyal customers that they've been suckers for decades.

In the past 4 weeks in Chicago, ICE/CBP have snatched hundreds of people off the streets & homes, shot & killed a single-father in his car, smashed & abandoned countless cars, and deployed chemical munitions at protesters, journalists, & now on public streets. Today they cuffed an alderperson.

On the one hand the fighting within my shul’s board over taking a formal position on Palestine is ugly and exhausting and if I could quit my seat on it tomorrow I would.

Otoh the ugliness that’s come to the surface at least reflects the gravity of the situation. We’re fighting for our soul.
