“The idea that maybe these organisations have some form of a role in the highest halls of power…there’s no level of accountability.”

@premthakker.bsky.social and Yumna Patel spoke with us about the organisations helping Trump deport pro-Palestinian voices.

Ok, Baltimore, time to find an indoor home for Mr. Rogers!

He's been living in our guest room and wandering around the house for two weeks now, and he's had all his shots and has been treated for parasites. He has immaculate manners, no spraying, and just wants lots of scritches and playtime.

"We must all defend targeted communities as though we are defending our own freedom and our own families, because those are the actual stakes. There are no tidy divisions between us that will ultimately be respected. The lawless spectacle will continue, and it must be resisted." -- Kelly Hayes

Innocent people — undesirables, political dissidents — are being sent to camps here and abroad. A scapegoated minority is being persecuted, made an example of. Wrongthink is being stricken from government institutions and civil society. There is no more "if" authoritarianism arrives. It's here.

At some point you have to recognize our interconnectedness and how sacrificing anyone is sacrificing everyone and only feeds the authoritarian machine.

You cannot stave this off by feeding people into the maw. We stand together or we all fall.

OF THE EMPIRE
We will be known as a culture that feared death and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity for the few and cared little for the penury of the many. We will be known as a culture that taught and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke little if at all about the quality of life for people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a commodity. And they will say that this structure was held together politically, which it was, and they will say also that our politics was no more than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of the heart, and that the heart, in those days, was small, and hard, and full of meanness.

Reports of ICE raids, & at least one detention, in Northern Virginia. Don't open the door if ICE knocks, check for a warrant signed by a judge, & don't answer questions without a lawyer are among your rights, regardless of citizenship. If you're a bystander, you can remind people. More tips here:

1. Today, the Iowa Legislature shamefully stripped transgender people from the State Civil Rights Act.

It becomes the first state to ever strip any group from a civil rights act.

There were powerful speeches, and huge protets.

Public comment on US passport form changes related to trans

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

Hey #Baltimore! I confronted a #Nazi at Savers thrift store. He was real proud of his swastika belt, while denying it means anything. Anyone know who he is? He left after I yelled at him, but staff said he comes in a lot + they hate to see it normalized. Please ask mgr to make a #NoNaziZone!

Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste.
