Innocent people — undesirables, political dissidents — are being sent to camps here and abroad. A scapegoated minority is being persecuted, made an example of. Wrongthink is being stricken from government institutions and civil society. There is no more "if" authoritarianism arrives. It's here.

Persuading others means using language that is comfortable to the people you are trying to reach, rather than the phrases that might resonate with a progressive in-group but are jarring or confusing to outsiders.

Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste.

I definitely think it IS the job of our political representatives to put themselves in harm's way to protect democracy because otherwise it's up to the most vulnerable of us who don't get paid 6 figures annually to do it
