Picked up some pastels today, back into 2 minute gesture drawings.

All laptop components laying on the table.

All laptop components laying on the table.

Spent some time at lunch replacing ram on an old laptop. It involved taking the whole thing apart. I'll always be a software guy, but something about taking hardware apart, putting it back together, and getting it to boot will always feel like magic.

Loved seeing this one come together since the first post. Great work as always!

Some Houdini sketching from yesterday and this morning. Creating images from ripples in water. This uses the luma of the image to determine how big the ripple should be at the main frame when it all comes together. In this case its frame 38.

Happy New Year!

My family often gifts experiences or things we can do together for the holidays, so we're always trying to find a fun way to present it and have something to unwrap. This year I spend some time in Copernicus in Houdini and made these tickets inspired by The Polar Express. It was a lot of fun!

Another fun #vexember challenge. The goal was to create this one entirely in one vex node โ€” point generation, colors, animation, all of it! I had a lot of fun working it out. #houdini #3d #vfx

Had a chance to tackle #vexember challenge 2 (glad they're every four days this year). This one was a lot of fun and pushed me to study matrices again (turns out it had been awhile!) Also threw in some Copernicus for the modeling which was really interesting! #houdini

My quick take on #vexember day 1. No fancy lights or renderers here. All vex and a little Copernicus to stitch it together at the end. #houdini

Lovely work. Have you ever talked about your workflow and why you choose 3DCoat?

I experimented with it a bit a few years ago and liked what I saw on the surface. Would be very interesting to hear some insights from someone using it at such a high level.

Shared this over on the other app a while ago, but thought the #houdini community here would like it! Implementation of @baabbbaash.bsky.social 's talk on "Single Line Drawings via Math Optimization", this was one of my first Copernicus experiments. Working on a few fun new takes on it, stay tuned!

Great explanation as always! The point about the SOPs overhead for a lot of small simple operations was a really eye-opening one for me. Definitely helped me fit where APEX goes in my mental toolbox.

a color coded image by Freya, comparing the summation and capital pi notation in math, to their equivalent in code using for-loops. The summation notation sums a set of elements, while the product notation multiplies a set of elements.

Note that Freya is keenly aware that neither the math notation nor for-loops are fully explained by this image, and that this is only a subset of the use cases, so luckily you don't have to explain that to her, in case you were considering doing that!

btw these large scary math symbols are just for-loops
