The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murderβ€”a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

He was wrongfully imprisoned for 43 years. Moments after being released, ICE took him Subramanyam β€œSubu” Vedam now faces deportation.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

Certain celebrity deaths are harder to process than others because the person in question was so full of life and creativity and originality that you just assume it's never going to end.

You would not fire these peopleβ€”including the staff of the hugely, HUGELY important 'Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report'β€”if you cared at all about public health, if you wanted people to live.

And you would not let your thuggish henchmen fire people like this if you were a responsible president.

Very wealthy people once again learn the hard way that there are still a few things in this world that can't be bought. A clean conscience, for example.

That (NPR!) journalists think AI is a creative engine that can finesse iconic productions is not just context for the crap quality of writing in media but alarmingly the inability among a class of supposedly professional scrutinizers to distinguish between art and slop, good and bad, truth and lie

I'm always the most impressed with the teenagers I work with who are eager to be edited and genuinely thirst for constructive feedback because they want to get better. if literal children can have this mindset so can grown-ass adults.

this is about books not journalism, but even so: I have had BAD editors and it absolutely sucks, but partly for that reason and the hollowing out of journalism... having a good editor is such a GIFT! how often have I had a bad editor or no editor at all! be grateful!!

They had to buy the Post, gut the newsroom, and restaff with reactionary grifters that don't deserve to carry their predecessors' dirty socks; that was the only way to remake the paper, because they were never gonna get through the front door on merit.

David Frum, Douglas Murray Secretly Drafted Speeches for Israeli Ambassador Leaked emails from former Israeli UN Ambassador Ron Prosor show David Frum, Douglas Murray offering to write his speeches and a CNN producer fundraising for Israel’s Iron Dome during Israel’s 2014 war

Fascinating report just released by DropSite which reveals that David Frum, while working on a profile of an Israeli ambassador to the United Nations for the Atlantic, was also shadow-writing speeches for that same ambassador.

The Conservative Justices Don't Trust Any Science That Supports LGBTQ Kids States that want to facilitate discrimination against LGBTQ people have the Court's blessing. States that want to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination do not.

I've written my analysis of today's grim Supreme Court oral argument in the conversion therapy case:

As far as the Court's concerned, imaginary medical uncertainty gives states the authority to hurt queer kids, and takes away states' authority to protect them
