Who knows better than Pierre Poilievre the price an elected representative can pay for repeatedly failing their constituents?

I struggle to understand why people get furious about politicians who cross the floor, and I realized it’s because I don’t really see the distinction between parties a lot of people do. What a party says it stands for changes once it’s in power, so I don’t care much the colour of people’s ties.

For the record, I went to La Cubana instead for a pressed sandwich, tostones, and their incredible raspberry lime rickey.

I hadn’t considered it. I suppose it comes down to a balance between independence and making voting as clear and simple as possible. Do candidates still run under party banners?

The absolute last thing we should want in our already shaky representative democracy is to ban floor crossing. You think it’s hard for a backbencher to be heard now? Take away their last bit of leverage and see what happens.

Using Constitutionally accepted practices is neither “shady” nor “undemocratic”. We elect people, not parties, and every attempt to redefine that relationship and ban floor-crossing has failed. And that’s GOOD!

I don't recommend anyone buy American Canto, but you should read a few paragraphs. Maybe even a whole page. If you want to experience someone writing with their head buried up their own ass, there are few better examples. Though her ex is making a play for the title.

Going out on a limb, but I imagine it has something to do with:
a) horrible reviews
b) laughably overwrought, high school-level emo prose
c) backlash against the obvious MSM effort to make Nuzzi a thing

I once did a project with Disney that involved the use of their IP. A project they initiated. It was a constant struggle to get access to the IP and then, once we had it, to agree on how it could be used. Now Disney is PAYING OpenAI $1B to allow anyone, anywhere, to do anything.

As others, especially on this site, have been right to point out, the Rob Ford era, however brief, created a culture of ultimate deference to staff. No one (save perhaps prospective mayoral candidates) thinks we should discount staff's opinion and expertise. But it MUST be purposefully challenged.

Far too much of Olivia Chow's time in office can be counted in "Oh yeah, we'll get right on that" statements about problems which would have been much easier to address if someone—anyone—in a position of senior executive leadership had been asking hard questions and demanding better.
