Journalists: you cannot deport U.S. citizens out of their own country. Do not simply regurgitate the words of the administration if those words are inaccurate. To do so is spreading disinformation. Deportation, according to the govt itself, is for people with no legal right to be here.

These are my recommendations for anyone who wants to make a plan to resist a Trump Dictatorship:
- First: Do a little light reading. Pick up 'On Tyranny' by @timothysnyder.bsky.social. The Twenty Points Snyder outlines are your starting point. The plan is what you create using it.

This is Yale Professor Timothy Snyder, who studies authoritarians and tyranny, with a warning.
He and another Yale professor, Jason Stanley, who studies similar topics at Yale, are moving to Canadian universities, a result of the political and academic climate here.

The men disappeared to El Salvador because of their tattoos
The Trump administration sent Venezuelans to El Salvadorβs most infamous prison. Their families are looking for answers.
The full story is here, and it includes multiple other cases of people, including other people who entered at ports of entry (not illegally) who were clearly detained and shipped to El Salvador solely on the basis of their tattoo and nothing more. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

ICE has detained Tufts grad student Rumesya Ozturk and revoked her visa.
Her crime? She co-wrote an op-ed supporting Palestine. (Not a crime)
Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

Much like the faceless figure in this comic.
It stings to see people seemingly not giving a flip about stuff like this until they see it affecting ppl who look like them.

Within government institutions, for private research orgs and universities, the result will be the same: fewer researchers, less research.

ALT: a man with pink hair is standing in front of a refrigerator with the words so frustrating written on it .
This would be incredibly cumbersome and inefficient on the scale of university-based biomedical research.
It is important not to think that indirect costs are some sort of slush fund. They pay for the cost of research as much as does the cost of a box of pipets or the salary for a postdoc.
