Nice cherry picked stats. We have one of the lowest life expectancies of any major country. It's not doomerism to accept the facts and demand that we do better. It's optimism that I even bother to argue for M4A these days. We deserve better and we can do better.

And if you want to get anecdotal, ask anybody who doesn't have insurance about their "outcomes." They get little or no care and are then shoved out onto the street. And the folks who do have insurance get fucked by profit-driven insurers who have a strict profit motive to deny claims

2008 is great for cars in the US. Engine electronics were advanced and helpful but reliable (fuel injection, VVT, etc). Interiors weren't plagued by screens, except on luxury and high trim models. Fuel efficiency was high (many cars 30+ mpg). Trucks were big but not enormous.

I had a Plymouth Scamp last year and it had similar power and weight numbers, but was infinitely more fun to drive. I'd go Chrysler L-body over 4-cylinder Fiero any day (except '88s which had major architecture changes, never driven one but I hear good things)

It's just not a handler, and the Iron Duke has no character. Terminal understeer and a slow steering ratio make it feel lethargic on turn in, and a bleh engine means your right foot can't help the situation. It's fun at 5-6/10ths but too slow to be driven like that all the time.
