so much of what we know about the tribe is about how they deal with death so i think killing others is naturally something they dwell on a lot. its often the right or only thing to do, but you need to be prepared to carry the massive responsibility of ending a life. not everyone can or should.

estinien lost his family all at once, malaqi drifted apart and left them behind. malaqi was aimless, estinien had a very clear path ahead of him once their Big Tragedies happened. they’re both struggling to express their big emotions. neither of them expected to live this long. they both love sheep

estinien is like painfully a flame character but i made malaqi before i knew anything about him and noticed so many parallels in their backstories, their personal struggles, and their natural arc as characters that i had to put them together
