Now somewhat, and deservedly, chastened by the realisation that I've burned the chicken filling ...
Damn!

Made pancakes, 'cos... well, obviously. While tossing them, thought back smugly to a crรชpes evening at a meeting of the student Cercle Franรงais at my uni where I heard a couple of French attendees mocking me for my battered old frying pan and lack of expertise. Until I flipped them like a pro. Ha! ๐Ÿ˜

@randomirish tweeted on X:

Take Irelands name out of your mouth when you want to rationalize white supremacy.

The Irish didn't come to America to share their culture. They came fleeing destitution and starvation in their homeland, courtesy of the kind of imperial power you now fetishize. We don't forget.

[He's reacting to this tweet by Elon Musk:]
For a country to survive, there has to be a common culture.
Nobody dies to defend a "multicultural economic zone"!
American culture, with its English-Scotts-Irish origin, is great and worth fighting for.
Some may not realize it, but that's why people come here.

Trust an Irishman to tell it like it is.

Have you ever discovered a seemingly interesting recipe, moved heaven and earth to get a particular, locally exotic ingredient (in this case adsuki beans), made a huge quantity of the recipe only to discover you don't actually like it and are forced to eat it for the next week?

I merely ask [sigh]

Some will read this & think less of the Ukrainian govt. They should do the opposite. In every country there are individuals in power that break laws & fill their own pockets. If Ukraine while under attack can still uphold the law & hold them accountable, none of us have an excuse not to.

A small, intricately carved frog figurine made of translucent reddish-orange carnelian gemstone. The frog has a smooth, polished surface with minimal detailing, and its shape is slightly stylized. The figurine is placed on a plain, white background.

A tiny #Egyptian #frog amulet, made of carnelian (height 0.9 cm). Because of their numerous offspring, #frogs were considered a symbol of fertility.

I was, of course, only joking about the โ€˜feralโ€™. We were enjoying a quiet cuppa in a hotel lounge when the double doors opened and a coachload of over 70s streamed in. They were delightful - happy, lively and highly scone-centred ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
