Yeah I mean you canโt even read the headlines without face palming. Itโs embarrassing to watch.

And hello!
This is a bullshit story from start to finish yet itโs the top story on the NYTimes? Why?
14.07.2025 03:07 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I donโt think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make whatโs happening now look like childโs play. And people are disappearing.
Itโs worth noting that the French Resistance contained within its ranks everyone from monarchists to communists, and they HAD to find a way to hang together in the face of the Nazis.

13.06.2025 04:37 โ ๐ 32 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Billionaires are consolidating around Cuomo because they know he will preserve the broken status quo.
New Yorkers are rallying behind our campaign because they're ready for change.
In two weeks, we will shock the political establishment and win a city we can all afford.
This really surprised me. Maybe this has something to do with her union ties? Cuomo has a lot union support (also disappointing)
06.06.2025 17:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I really wish the NYTimes could figure out the are cities outside of New York with an art scene worth exploring beyond Detroit.

The White House doesn't have the authority to fire leaders at the Smithsonian.
Have a nice day, DJT!

So toxic. A friend was stalked by an ex girlfriend who sent her astrology readings that suggested they should be together. Her feed was then filled with Astrology recommendations.

14.05.2025 22:57 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Spent the day editing artist statements. Two takeaways:
1. A.I. wonโt save you time. You just spend it on prompts.
2. A.I. can fix your grammar but it canโt fill in what you donโt tell it. It wonโt connect aesthetic decisions with intent unless draw the connections yourself.
Where was this?

05.05.2025 02:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So the problem is that the hype distracts from the things itโs good at?
27.04.2025 16:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0My bad. I guess I donโt know from your responses what you think about the larger issue. Is the tech not overhyped at all? If it is, is that a problem? Why/why not?
I ask b/c your responses were smart, but focused on a narrow band of debate so I donโt know what you think. Iโm interested in that.
Isnโt the challenge to bring some of that thoughtfulness to the table? If the only contribution we can add is parsing out the ways other people disappoint us weโre not furthering a discussion worth having either.
27.04.2025 15:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I guess this is an actual debate point over LLM use? Itโs developed new strains of antibiotics for use on drug-resistant infections but sure. Letโs never forget that itโs a terrible editor.
27.04.2025 11:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Nobody gives a shit about the goalposts. The point, for me at least, is how can we engage in a conversation about AI that forces more thoughtfulness around its development. Because that is a legitimate problem being glossed over by the tech industry.
27.04.2025 10:55 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I took Scoccaโs core point to be that AI has an army of enthusiasts defending imperfect technology and has there been anything of similar scale because maybe we think this is bad. That seems to be getting lost in all the hairsplitting over phrasing.
