UPDATE: Staff at the ICE concentration camp in Dilley, Texas have begun raiding the dormitories of kids and their parents to confiscate and destroy letters from the children. This is in response to the ace reporting by @micarosenberg et al for ProPublica:

And to be clear, the only way that they made the Trump Administration look bad, was by trying to not be imprisoned.

This is a very important point. The regime came to power through lies. They planned to keep that popularity intact through lies. That plan is completely failing because of all the people who are working so hard to constantly expose them.

Minnesota ICE-watchers did this.

By relentlessly documenting ICE/BP/DHS abuses—taking on personal risk to do so—they’ve gotten the horrors into more information streams. Got more people to pay attention, undermined Trump regime lies, and shifted the stances of some Democratic officeholders.

The federal government is executing American citizens in the middle of the street for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of speech.

This is tyranny. No free people can accept this kind of government. We need to bring an end to the Trump regime.

This is exactly right. And it helps explain the 2024 election. So many people just couldn’t imagine this is what they were voting for.

You could get Trump to walk straight into a jail cell if you just write "Nobel Peace Prize this way" with a big arrow pointing at the door.

Things will escalate this year. The Trump regime’s fascism will become more intense, but so will the resistance of the American people. It will culminate in the people’s attempt to elect a Democratic Congress which the regime will first try to prevent and then will try to invalidate.

Right-wing media spent weeks in a bad faith (or deluded) effort to cast this obvious investigatory step as partisan and devious. Senators tried to award themselves half a mill for it!

This is a crucial point. The only way we are going to be able to reconstruct the entire federal government is to officially declare Trump's actions null and void and there will have to be an official rationale to explain why.

And the key difference is that, unlike Trump or a maga politician, Mamdani isn’t going to try to make the people who didn’t vote for him suffer.

In 2025, the media treated Trump's executive orders and other proclamations as if they were the law of the land, regardless of their illegality or his lack of authority. I think going forward we will start to see the media give them more of the 'old man yells at clouds' treatment they deserve.

We rightfully focus on the people sent to prisons and deported. But even the people who are let go are left with permanent trauma. Everyone subjected to this will never be the same.

Today's high school students will all be voters by 2028 (and many of them by 2026).

Now would be a great time for Democrats and any left-leaning media or launch a non-stop chorus of attacks on Trump for inciting violence.
