I must confess, my existential dread at climate change ending human civilisation has been soothed somewhat by the knowledge that AI is pretty certain to kill us all first. I enjoy the sunny days more is all.

But there’s a minority of people who are basically making their own lives worse by marinating in fear and hatred online. It’s really sad.

Protest votes in local/European elections have never been predictive of General Elections. The idea Reform are on course to do anything in Westminster simply isn't supported by the evidence.

Mostly I realise that this itself is a useless post that will cause no-one (least of all me) to change their plans or take any action. It certainly has no solutions. But liberal democracy is drowning in the anger and furious bad faith. We're doomscrolling into the abyss.

Then I was thinking. So many seem to use social media to get themselves so angry - and for what? Who does it hurt other than them? Who does it help? They're most often just getting angry at totems of their perceived enemy that mostly just exists in their own head.

Something I heard today:
How often does something you see on social media cause you to alter your plans for the day? Or to take some action you would not otherwise have taken? Or provide you with insight into some problem you are required to solve?

Given how much we all wish Henry VIII actually did write "Greensleeves", we should do the people of the far future a favour and add to the historical record, with supporting archeological evidence, that Elizabeth II wrote "Bohemian Rhapsody".

I've just seen someone on here say a comedy film "sucks" because, even though it made them laugh a lot, it didn't have "residual cultural value". I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone more clearly demonstrate that they have zero understanding of humanity.

Knocked on hundreds of doors in a the red wall for Labour last election. The only ones who ever expressed a liking for LBD-ilk nonsense weren't ever on a doorstep, they were some of my fellow doorknockers who thought it was appropriate to turn up in "Never Kissed A Tory" t-shirts and the like.
