The article says he was charged after he declared his candidacy.

Not that I wanted him elected, but that is the timeline.

Absolutely it's a big no no, another concept that was pounded into my head at BYU in my science classes.

Confounding factors (a concept I learned in a BYU stats class) also come to mind

Are they LGBTQ?

Education level and in what area?

Were those closest to the subjects generally accepting of their choice or were they rejected and treated differently?

Having science training (in part from BYU), I won't immediately dismiss their findings because I might not agree or like them.

The actual publication would be helpful for clarity.

I want to know what the survey questions are. Were they in any way leading (begging the question)?

One person I went to church with I lost all respect for when I saw them quoted in the news speaking out against the warming shelters back when people in Fruit Heights went kitty bonkers over a non-LDS church helping the needy.

The thing that makes Star Trek utopian isnโ€™t the end of scarcity or the harmony between all peoples itโ€™s also that the guy on the ship who gets laid the most plays the trombone at work and periodically does community theater

View from the main bridge, captain's POV. Sulu and Chekov look ahead at the main viewscreen. On the screen is the BSOD from Windows. It reads, "Your main computer ran into a problem and needs to restart. Weโ€™re just collecting some error info, and then weโ€™ll restart for you. 47% complete. If you hail a support person, give them this info: Stop code: PENALTY_FOR_MURDER"

This is a single-panel political cartoon that visually contrasts technological advancement with political ideology.
The image shows a large, futuristic starshipโ€”specifically, the USS Enterprise from the Star Trek franchise, identifiable by its distinctive saucer section and twin warp nacellesโ€”flying high above a landscape. The ship is drawn in a detailed, sci-fi comic book style.
The ship is tethered by a thick cable or rope to a small, wooden, covered wagon (like a pioneer's covered wagon or a prairie schooner) that is resting on a small, grassy hill. The wagon appears antiquated and is drawn in a simpler, more cartoonish style, making it look grounded and rustic in contrast to the high-tech starship.
The significant element is the text on the covered wagon. The side of the canvas cover features large, bright red capital letters that clearly spell out the acronym "MAGA" (Make America Great Again).
The overall composition suggests a contrast between the advanced, forward-looking nature of the Star Trek vessel and the outdated, slow-moving nature of the political slogan it is dragging behind it.

Being tethered to the archaic past is keeping us from boldly moving forward.

The Crime of Human Virtue Sometimes it really is as simple as good vs. evil. This is one of those times. Human virtue is our great crime against the fascist project; it's also our great weapon against it.

"To be a Republican in 2025 represents a clear public confession that you either don't know the difference between good and evil and you're so morally empty that you can't be bothered to begin to try, or that you do know the difference, and you prefer evil." Great essay from @juliusgoat.bsky.social

Great job, looks exciting. Oh, your health benefits suck? I'll stay at the job I hate then.

Watching a family member go through the process of a medical procedure in a hospital today.

I am reminded that the public and those who dedicate their lives to heal the sick are subject to a hellish system whose purpose is to be profitable and the knucklehead politicians who support such chaos.

This was always the plan.

Project 2025 was Donald Trump's blueprint to seize unchecked power within the federal government and restrict Americans' freedoms. And he is implementing it right in front of our eyes.

If I may ask since you're on the topic, why did the practicing ballroom dancers feel it necessary to practice in the hallway when there was a gigantic ballroom right next to them?

I nearly got plowed over twice, and when I got upset and called them on it, I was the bad guy.

Covid put my syllabus 100% online where it now continues.

Simple Syllabus is a syllabus by community IMHO. Copy / paste the usual pieces breaking Canvas features, add in sections professors can't edit. Include assignments that don't update and it becomes a complete mess I then disable.

Can I use this at my next bishop's interview? No I don't obey the word of wisdom or pay tithing, but you see time isn't linear so I can have a temple recommend now because I will later / used to.

The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
